Brown has a chance to be "that guy"! Fans: How many times has the taste of being that person succeeded

author:The layman says basketball

According to US media reports, Paul Pierce compared Jaylen Brown's situation in Boston with James Harden's situation in the Oklahoma City Thunder and Maddie's situation with the Toronto Raptors, and he thought that maybe Jaylen Brown wanted the opportunity to be "that guy"! Brown in the Green Army Although he plays well, he is not the owner of this team, he is averaging 26.7 points and 6.9 rebounds per game this season, shooting 49% from the field, can be the absolute core of a team, and Pierce's words mean that Brown will feel that he should have a team of his own, let's see what the fans say!

He can be that guy on the Lakers

He can be the guy on the Lakers

Should’ve said kyrie lmao. They haven’t won a championship like Bron and kyrie but it still was like most credit goes to the 1 option

It should be said Owen haha. They didn't win a championship like James and Irving, but most of the credit goes to the first choice.

He’s already the guy the Celtics is his and Tatum team

He's already the guy with the Celtics, and Tatum is his teammate.

Jaylen is tuff but like Paul George said not everyone is meant to be that guy

Jaylen is strong, but as Paul George said, not everyone can be that person.

PG said that about himself as a veteran, at Jaylen's age he was as much as "that guy" as you can want someone to be

and Jaylen has that potential i believe

Paul George is a veteran player, and Jaylen is already like the guy you want at his age. I believe Jaylen has this potential.

Jaylen obviously doesn't want to leave but this man has been involved in trades rumors for YEARS and after years in the league & now that he's apart of the players association he just looks at it like a business & recognizes that he can go at any time regardless of what they say

Jaylen obviously didn't want to leave, but the man had been embroiled in trade rumours for years and now that he was part of the players' association, he saw it as a business and recognised that he could leave at any time no matter what they said.

Not exactly a great comparison, harden showed in Houston that in the big moments he couldn’t be THAT guy, tho to be fair brown is a MUCH better player in Boston than harden was in OKC

Not very comprehensive, Harden showed in the Rockets, and he can't be that person in important moments. To be fair, though, Brown is much better with the Celtics than Harden is with the Thunder.

Harden had to face the best team of all time multiple years in a row and would’ve gotten a ring if CP3 could stay healthy

Harden has had to face the strongest team of all time for years, and he could have received a championship ring if Paul hadn't been injured.

He had the warriors down 3-2, in game 7 of that series & a double digit lead in the 3rd quarter, yet kept on chucking up 3s, next year, KD got hurt in middle of g5, he choked another opportunity to win both games

He kept the Warriors trailing 3-2 in the playoffs and taking a double-digit lead in the third quarter, but kept shooting three-pointers, and the following year, KD was injured in Game 5 and he missed another chance to win the championship.

Only trades id consider “realistic” and acceptable for both teams involved.

The only deals that I consider "realistic" are those that are acceptable to both teams involved.

Yep, he does and he will have that opportunity to decide on. Who knows but JB has earned it

Yes, he did, he will have the opportunity to make a decision. Who knows, but Brown has already won the chance.

Crazy trade idea that could actually work for both teams would be Jimmy Butler for Jaylen as the main part of the trade. Jaylen gets to lead the heat and is closer to Herro n Bam’s age and Celtics get a sure fire shot at a ring for the next few years of Jimmy’s current contract

A crazy trading idea that could work for both teams is Jimmy Butler trading with Jaylen Brown as the main part. Jaylen will be the leader of the Heat, close in age to Hiro and Adebayo, and the Celtics can secure a championship on Jimmy's existing contract.

It’s not really about that. It’s moreso that his name keeps coming up in trade conversations. He understands it’s a business but he clearly a bit butt hurt about that. And wants to be somewhere he knows they want him 110%.

That's not really the problem. It's more that his name often appears in deal negotiations. He understands it's a business, but obviously a little saddened by it and wants to be in a place that really wants him.

I’m pretty sure jaylen is super mature tho and is willing to not be that guy to keep winning . I don’t follow the Celtics too much but I know one thing , and it’s that jaylen brown is one of the most mature and intelligent men in the nba.

I'm pretty sure Jaylen is very mature and willing not to be the one who leaves the team to win. I don't pay much attention to the Celtics, but I do know one thing, and that is that Jaylen Brown is one of the most mature and intelligent people in the NBA.

He takes the 7th most field goals in all the nba. Just rack up more assists and show that u can run an offense not just score. he can get those chances very easily in Boston even with Tatum cuz he not a big ego selfish guy. His advanced stats and on off numbers need improvement.

He averaged seventh points per game of all players in the NBA. Just by accumulating a few more assists and showing that he can organise and not just score, even with Tatum, he could easily get those opportunities at the Celtics because he's not a selfish big man. His high-order stats and appearance stats need to be improved.

How often does trying to become “the guy” work though?

James Harden - 0 Rings

Kyrie Irving (as the guy) - 0 Rings

T-Mac - 0 Rings

Kevin Durant (without Curry) - 0 Rings

I think it’s harder than people think to lead a team. I would never understand leaving a good opportunity

However, how many attempts to become "that person" have been successful?

James Harden - 0 championship rings

Kyrie Irving (as that guy) - 0 championship rings

Maddie - 0 championship rings

Kevin Durant (without Curry) - 0 championship rings

I think leading a team is harder than people think. I will never understand why such a good opportunity would be let go.

It’s not the same because there is no “the guy” anymore, it’s more like “the guys”, every team is getting multiple superstar players in order to win, the era of a team having one star player is over.

It's not the same because there is no longer "that person" but more like "those people", where each team is fighting for multiple superstar players to win the game, and the days when a team had only one star player are over.

Well maybe but your also on a good team already. You can also end up like Lillard talented guy nothing around him but pats on back for being "loyal" when the owner isn't really holding up there end of loyal.

Well, maybe yes, but you're already on a good team. You may also be like Lillard, talented, one person and one city, because "loyalty" is encouraged, but the boss does not deliver on their so-called "encouragement".

Maybe he should use these exact examples as to the grass ain't always greener. Yeah you'll be the #1 guy but will never win anything. The quicker Tatum and Brown realize they need each other and that they're equals the better. Idk if they will though.

Perhaps he should use these exact examples to illustrate that meadows are not always greener. Yes, you will be the #1 person, but never win anything. The sooner Tatum and Brown realize that they need each other and that they are equal, the better. But I don't know if they will do it.

He know they are equals it’s just the fans and the franchise that don’t think so, his main problem is that he’s always the first one in trade rumors yet Tatum seems untouchable when literally had to call Tatum and the gm to make sure he wasn’t getting traded when KD was on market

He knows they're equals, it's just that the fans and the team don't think so. His main problem is that he's always the first to be talked about being traded, and Tatum doesn't seem to have that concern. When KD was in the market, he even had to call Tatum and the general manager to make sure he wasn't being traded.

I understand this take but look how that worked out for harden he couldn’t win a ring and came back to join stacked teams with superstars again to win hope he stays

I understand the idea, but look at Harden, he can't win a ring and ends up coming back to start a superstar huddle and hopefully he can stay.

I believe Harden and Tmac still had better careers, since the Raptors or OKC didn't win a chip, yet they are both legends of the game for their own personal reasons, which aren't being the number 2 guy for a ring.

A ring would obviously not diminish their careers.

I think Harden and Tmac have better careers because the Raptors or the Thunder didn't win a championship, but they both became legends on the team on their own, and it has nothing to do with being the second person to win a championship.

Of course, having or not having a ring doesn't diminish the legend of their career.

Brown has a chance to be "that guy"! Fans: How many times has the taste of being that person succeeded

But a player didn't have a failed career, just because he didn't win a ring. JB could take the backseat to JT all his career, but he's probably too good for that.

But a player's failure to win a ring doesn't mean his career has failed. Jaylen Brown could be Tatum's backup for the rest of his career, but he may be so good that this bench can't use his full talent.

It’s not failed but it is diminished because even if jb wins a ring in Boston he would get more recognition because he’s still a superstar look cp3 harden Russ still hunting for a ring because it changes their name in history

It's not a failure, but it does diminish his value, and if Jaylen Brown wins a championship in Boston, he'll be considered a superstar and get more recognition. Look at Paul, Harden, Wilson, they're still looking for a championship because it's going to change their names in history.

I wouldn't call JB a superstar, I'd only call like 10 players a superstar, he'd be the Robin to JT. You're right with the recognition tho, i agree with what dame said tho, ring culture destroys the NBA.

I wouldn't call Jaylen Brown a superstar, I'd just call the top 10 all-time superstars and he'll be Robin of Tatum. You're right, on the issue of recognition, I agree with Lillard that only championship theory will ruin the NBA.
