Actor Lance Reddick died last week. In the gaming community, nothing is most closely associated with him than Destiny. He is not only the voice actor of the recurring Vanguard Commander Zavala, but also a veteran player of Destiny 2. After the news of his death was reported, many players gathered around the characters in the game to mourn him. And recently an artist and game fan personally made a model of Zavala's statue in honor of the actor.

Danny van Eck, a Dutch 3D modeler working at Artdeck, designed the statue and made it freely available to anyone for 3D printing. The name of the statue is Latin "Per audacia ad astra, Commander", which translates to "bravely chase the stars, Commander".

Artdeck added on Twitter: "I hope my design is worthy of him, and I hope you all like the end result." Although the weekend was exhausting, I'm glad I finished it before the start of the work week. He also asked fans not to give him any tips, but instead to donate to momcares.org, a charity of Reddick's choice. This is a charitable foundation that currently helps the City of Baltimore that lacks support.

In an interview with PC Gamer, Artdeck, who has worked at several game studios, said: "I didn't fully realize how much I had developed for him, and he became a part of my daily life through Destiny. So when the news of his death was tweeted, it was a blow to me and still feels incredibly untrue. I'm sure many in the community can experience this feeling of loss and confusion and don't know how to mourn someone you never really knew, but who still plays an important part in your daily life. ”

"I was really struck when I stood in the tower with my best friend Leyla and the other Guardians to salute Lance and how much of this experience was shared between the community. Lance is Zavala, and without Lance, there would be no Zavala. ”

Blake Battle, the head of the Bungie project, also expressed his grief and described a story from his time playing with Reddick. This was when the raid "Mechanical Fury" of the original Destiny was developed.

He said: "In the final encounter (Tail King), entering the final output phase, we die prematurely, causing some chaos, and Lance finally needs to jump up from the back of the room and fly onto the back of Aksis to stun it before the group is destroyed. He did it, and we completed the raid. When finished, his voice was clearly filled with excitement. He was friendly, sociable and patient throughout the process. She talked to us like he was just someone from LFG (Random Group) looking for a cool team. He's the kind of person you want to add to your friends list so you can play games together later. ”
