Sixty years ago, you traveled to Mount Hua (with 8 sketches at that time)

author:Snow Embraces Blue Off 2021

The steepness of Mount Huashan is the first of the five mountains, and there are all kinds of myths and legends, with a deep cultural heritage, making people very yearning, is the most worthy place to travel in Shaanxi, I have traveled to Mount Huashan four times, but the first visit to Mount Huashan in 1963 was the most impressive.

After graduating from university, he worked on the Fengxian farm of the unit for more than a year, and returned to the work unit at the end of March 1963. After a few days of rest, I made an appointment with my classmates to visit Huashan.

April 5. At 10:10 a.m., I took the train to Huashan Station, and it was already raining when I walked to Yuquan Temple. At that time, Huashan was in a natural state, no one managed it, and no one charged. Walking up the mountain along a small river, there is not much water in the river, the water is very clear, and it is covered with large and small stones, as if it has been washed down from the mountain for thousands of years. Climbing the mountain in the rain, I rarely meet tourists, the rain is getting bigger and bigger, and after passing above Sharoping, the rain turns into snow, the snowflakes fall, the road is getting slippery and the clothes are soaked. I heard that it would take at least 4 hours to walk 40 miles to the mountain, so I had to return halfway and live in Xiangguan.

April 6. The rain stopped in the morning and the sky was still overcast. With the exercise of walking the mountain road every day in Fengxian Farm, I didn't feel tired after jumping up the mountain. All the way foggy, I don't know how much time I walked to climb the North Peak, suddenly open, looking at the Canglong Ridge, this name is well-named, walking on it trembling, like walking on the back of the Azure Dragon. When passing through the golden lock pass, a sketch was drawn. This painting is very meaningful, because a few years later, after the development of Huashan Mountain, the original Golden Lock Pass disappeared, and a new temple-like building was built, which was extremely mediocre and far less natural than the original Golden Lock Pass.

At this time, the snow fog became bigger and bigger, and after swimming to the West Peak, the center was on the way to the East Peak, and a large area of ice and snow continued to slide down from the cliff wall, the sound was like thunder, and the snow fog was pervasive, which was terrifying. I had to return to the North Peak, and the important building of the North Peak is the Zhenwu Palace, which is the most exquisite building in Huashan. It is said that Chiang Kai-shek lived here when he climbed Mount Hua. Unfortunately, later during the Cultural Revolution, the Red Guards burned down the Zhenwu Palace. Many years later, when I saw the restored Beifeng building from the photos, I always felt that it was simple and not as exquisite as the original. It was very cold and snowing, and I drew a sketch here, and my drawing reads: "When I was sketching, the snow was falling into the patio, and my hands were a little numb from the cold, and I stayed in the room on the left side of the picture that night." "When climbing the perilous 100-foot gorge, he made an oil poem to pay tribute to the ancient pioneers:

The cliff wall is about to collapse, and there is no cloud smoke for a hundred feet of steep steps.

It has never been the most dangerous Huashan Road, who is the pioneer of the mountain?

April 7. Heavy snow fell in the morning, until it stopped at 2 p.m. and the wind picked up again. Because of the high cost of food and lodging on the mountain, I had to give up traveling to the South Peak and the East Peak and brave the snow to go down the mountain. A few years later, he climbed Mount Hua three times before he toured Huashan Mountain. When we arrived at the Yuquan Temple at the bottom of the mountain, the snow stopped and the sky cleared. Hike to Huayin City, at this time it is already dark, looking back at Xiyue Hua Mountain, like a lotus pavilion standing on the mountains, under a bend of moonlight, shining, is so pure and beautiful, like a fairyland. That night, I stayed at the new new hotel on the old station street, which left a deep impression on me and will not forget it to this day. As if traveling back to the medieval traveler's inn, a square large courtyard, a circle of bungalows, each room is very small, only one single bed (two stools plus a bed board), a table and a stool, and can not accommodate other things, at night the courtyard gate is locked, the room has no bathroom, and a large urine bucket is placed on the ground in the middle of the courtyard outside. There were probably not a few people staying and it was very silent all night.

April 8. You Xiyue Temple, this temple is very large, it is said to be known as the small Forbidden City. There were walls all around, and when you climbed the wall, you looked around and saw that the temple was dilapidated, the houses were leaking and rubble, and there were some debris piled up everywhere. The original corner towers at the four corners of the city wall are gone, only stone foundations and broken bricks, which is very desolate. Here I drew another sketch. In 2012, I went to visit Xiyue Temple again, most of the temples have been restored, the corner tower is in the form of a three-out que, the specifications are very high, very spectacular, I took a photo and attached it to the text. After visiting Huayue Temple and returning to Yuquan Courtyard, it suddenly became a big market, and there were many people who were very lively. Snacks such as pots and helmets, various small goods, agricultural products, sacrificial supplies, and even pulling foreign chips are sold. People continued to pour in from all directions, and when I inquired, I realized that today was the Qingming Festival and there was a market. After wandering around for a while, it was noon, and I walked to Huashan Station to take the noon train back to Xi'an, and my first trip to Huashan was over.

The following pen drawings were redrawn after returning according to the sketch drawings of the time, absolutely faithful to the original, without adding oil and vinegar. Only the one on the wall of Huayin County was painted based on impressions. The pictures of the restored Golden Lock Pass and Zhenwu Palace were taken from the Internet.
