Zhang Xin, born in Beijing on December 6, 1919, was originally named Zhang Ruishan. His father, Zhang Ji, was a graduate of the Artillery Department of the Army University, and was the commander-in-chief of the artillery of the First Army group of the National Revolutionary Army, and died in the army in 1928 at the age of 42. His mother was The Wife of a Lieutenant General of the Kuomintang and then to Ms. Lian Wei, the beloved eldest sister of the Eighth Route Army.
In 1937, after graduating from The First Girls' High School in Beiping City, Zhang Xin went south to join the "Beiping Student Mobile Theater Troupe" led by the underground party. In the winter of 1938, he went to Yan'an and became an actor in the Luyi Experimental Theater Troupe. In 1946, he was transferred to the Jinji-Hebei Luyu Literary Association and became a theater researcher.
After the founding of new China, Zhang Xin became an actor in the Beijing Film Studio, and has participated in the filming of films such as "Gods and Ghosts" and "Zhao Xiaolan".
In 1954, the Beijing Film Academy's acting training class invited former Soviet experts to teach at the school, and Zhang Xin was organized to assist Soviet experts in their work with Xiao Long, Di Li, Ouyang Ruqiu, and Shi Kuan. After the training class, Zhang Xin stayed at the Film Academy and served as an acting instructor and class teacher.
In 1965, during that great movement, Zhang Xin and her husband were assigned to Chongqing, and it was not until 1979 that she returned to teach at the Beijing Film Academy until her retirement.
