Old Erlangshan Tunnel, is the 318 National Highway Erlangshan Tunnel, located in the junction of Ya'an City and Ganzi Prefecture in Sichuan Province Erlang Mountain, starting from Longtianxi in Tianquan County and ending at the Beto Mountain Sichuan-Tibet Highway in Luding County, connecting Tianquan County of Ya'an City and Luding County of Kardze Prefecture. With a total length of 4,176 meters, construction began in May 1996, was completed in November 1998, and opened to traffic in 2001. Erlangshan Tunnel is a tragic tunnel, almost seven people died per kilometer, is a "flesh and blood tunnel", nearly 2,200 meters above sea level, a total investment of 470 million yuan, double two lanes, shortened the drive from Ya'an City to Luding County. Although the road was repaired and opened to traffic, but the snow and ice were shrouded in snow and fog all year round, mudslides and landslides often occurred, and traffic accidents were prone to occur, in order to completely solve these problems, the engineering team decided to build the Xinjilangshan Tunnel after ten months of exploration and evaluation.

It is also the fourth longest tunnel in mainland China (the first longest tunnel is Qinling Zhongnanshan Tunnel with a total length of 18.04 kilometers, the second longest tunnel is Liangshan Jinpingshan Tunnel with a total length of 17.9 kilometers, the third longest tunnel is the Bashan Expressway Micangshan Tunnel with a total length of 13.81 kilometers), at a speed of 60 kilometers per hour, you can pass through the tunnel in 15 minutes, saving 45 minutes than the old tunnel, the altitude of the cave entrance is lower than the frozen line, and there is no traffic control in winter, driving is safer. Two multi-functional traffic transfer belts are set up in the cave to improve rescue emergency response capabilities and maintenance in the cave, and the cave adopts landscape lighting, five-star red flags and blue sky and white clouds, humanized settings, more advanced and comprehensive.
The tunnel of Shinjiro Mountain is decorated with colorful lights, you will not feel the long breath of the tunnel, and the dazzling five-star red flags appear alternately, feeling the greatness of the motherland while driving. The construction of the old and new Erlangshan Tunnel is difficult and can be called a great miracle project, and the Xinerlangshan Tunnel was selected as one of the "2022 China's Top 100 Buildings in the New Era".
