This "special concert for the people" of the Xiaoshan Wind Music Association is not simple

On the evening of October 10, a group of "grassroots" music lovers from the Xiaoshan District Wind Music Association walked into the Zhejiang Concert Hall and presented a wonderful "Special Concert for the People" to the audience.

The concert is dominated by saxophone performances, interspersed with recitations and choruses, with more than 70 musicians and more than 60 singers on stage. The repertoire is rich and colorful, "Hello Motherland" and "Without the Communist Party, There Would Be No New China" are full of affection for the motherland and the party; "Daughter Love" and "Frowning Eyebrows" are full of classic film and television picture sense; "The People of Ava Sing New Songs" and "Mongolians" exude a strong national custom; "Song of Harvest" and "Jazz Radsky March" bring the collision of Chinese and Western music; a song "West Lake on Earth" is full of Hangzhou people's love for the city...

According to reports, the Xiaoshan District Wind Music Association was established in 2009, and more than 100 members are all ordinary citizens from Xiaoshan. With the aim of "popularizing elegant music", the association has been committed to the promotion of grassroots music, and has held nearly 100 public welfare sessions since its establishment, and has tutored nearly 1,000 instrumental music lovers such as saxophones for free. In August 2010, the Association was recommended by UNESCO as a "Demonstration of Community Music".

Xu Jianyong, the soul of this group of "grassroots musicians", was originally an entrepreneur who often played saxophone in The Square and Park of Xiaoshan in his spare time. His music and enthusiasm infected many people, and when someone wanted to learn saxophone, he volunteered to teach. In this way, more and more music lovers gathered around him, and there is now the Xiaoshan District Wind Music Association. As the chairman of the association, Xu Jianyong has won the honorary titles of "the first cultural leader of Xiaoshan District" and "excellent mass cultural and sports counselor in Xiaoshan District".

That night, Xu Jianyong appeared as a conductor. Under his passionate command, the choir's singing and the band's accompaniment are integrated, and the repertoire such as "Singing the Motherland" is interpreted magnificently and infectiously.

"Holding this concert is to give grassroots music lovers a higher stage and show the power of grassroots music. We look forward to more ordinary people who love music to join our team. Xu Jianyong revealed that next year the team will go out of Zhejiang and go to Shanghai to hold a concert. (Excerpted by Jia Xiaoyun, editor of this site)
