On 14 August, the western part of Haiti was hit by a magnitude 7.2 earthquake. The earthquake killed 2,207 people, injured 12,268 and left 344 missing. More than 7,000 homes collapsed, more than 5,000 were damaged and more than 30,000 families were left homeless. In the ranks of the disaster areas in Haiti, people saw many Chinese faces. Wenling Hongyuan Traffic Engineering Co., Ltd. is a national secondary highway engineering enterprise, founded in 1999. Li Wei, deputy general manager of the company, introduced that as early as October 2009, the company sent three men, two women and five employees to Haiti to establish a branch. After that, the company developed well and undertook many engineering construction projects. When the earthquake struck, the company's construction crew was working on a bridge project. At first, the bridge shook slightly, and everyone thought it was the cause of piling, but they didn't care. After that, the bridge suddenly began to shake violently, and everyone realized that it was an earthquake and quickly lay down on the ground.
After about ten seconds of shaking, it stopped. For safety reasons, Jiang Hong and his colleagues stopped what they were doing and prepared to return to the camp to rest. As soon as they entered the gate, several local policemen rushed over and asked for help: "The church has fallen, and someone is buried inside!" ”

The originally tall Imakulai Church collapsed in the earthquake and many people were buried. Someone was crying loudly, someone was running for help. After the earthquake, he sent a message in the WeChat group of Haitian Chinese businessmen, saying that he wanted to donate some food to the disaster area. In less than ten minutes, a long line of solitaires was lined up in the WeChat group, and local Chinese participated.

After the earthquake, they spent the most difficult three days in the hotel's parking lot: sleeping in the car, lack of food, dozens of aftershocks a day... Until the staff of the Chinese Trade Development Office in Haiti and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs found them and took them to the site of the Riot Control Unit of the Chinese Peacekeeping Police in Haiti to settle down.
