At 04:00 Beijing time on March 10, Juventus played Freiburg im Breiburg in the first leg of the Europa League 1/8 final. The 35-year-old's header was won by Di Maria, with one goal on each side being disallowed as Juve beat Freiburg 1-0 to take the lead.

In the first minute of first-half stoppage time, Vlahovic headed a header that was deflected wide after Cuadradoneche's shot was saved by the goalkeeper.
In the 53rd minute, Kostić's cross from the left flank was scored with Di Maria's header to give Juve a 1-0 lead.
In the 64th minute, Holler scored with a shot from the middle of the box, but VAR confirmed that his teammate had fouled the handball first and the goal was disallowed.
In the 71st minute, Bremer made a "volleyball-style" interception in the midfield position and was shown a yellow card by the referee.
In the 76th minute, Griffo's free-kick went straight over the crossbar.
After that, neither side could change the score again, and Juve beat Freiburg 1-0.
