With the reopening of tourism activities on March 15, 2022, Vietnam was assessed by the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) as one of the countries with the most open policies in the world. Vietnam was also one of the first countries in the region to open up.

According to the World Economic Forum's 2022 report, Vietnam's tourism development capacity index ranked 52nd in the world in 2021, up 8 places from 2019, and one of the top three countries in the world.

At the World Travel Awards 2022, Vietnam's tourism industry won 16 world-class awards and 48 Asia's top awards.

In the past five years, Vietnam has won the World's Best Heritage Destination Award three times; 4 times named Best Tourist Destination in Asia; Vietnam won the title of "Best Golf Tourism Destination in Asia" for the sixth time at the 2022 World Golf Awards, and Vietnamese localities and enterprises have received many other prestigious international titles.

Immediately after tourism reopened, Vietnam focused on promoting media programs to attract international tourists under the title "Live fully in Vietnam".

On the occasion of the 31st East Games in Vietnam, the tourism department took this opportunity to vigorously promote Vietnam's image of tourism as safe, friendly and attractive to sports delegations and international tourists, contributing to the success of the Eastern Games. Looking forward to breakthroughs

In addition to returning strongly after being severely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, the tourism industry still faces some difficulties and challenges.

World tourism continues to recover, but has not returned to 2019 levels; Domestic tourism continues to grow, but at a slower pace; Many of Vietnam's major tourism markets are not yet fully open.

The tourism sector will focus on the implementation of the "Vietnam Tourism System Plan 2021-2030 and Vision to 2045" published after obtaining government approval; Vietnam tourism marketing strategy by 2030, proposal of "applying the fourth industrial revolution technology to develop smart tourism and promoting tourism as an economic pillar", proposal to develop Vietnamese community tourism and other core tasks.

In outreach efforts, the tourism sector will participate in the ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF 2023) in Indonesia; ITB, Germany; International tourism events such as the World Travel Exhibition (WTM) in London, UK; In the United States, CNN and some major international media channels promote Vietnam's tourism potential. In coordination with the Vietnam Tourism Association, the Tourism Development Support Fund, various localities and enterprises, we will continue to carry out activities to promote Vietnam's tourism in major markets such as ASEAN, Northeast Asia, Australia, Europe, and North America. In cooperation with Binh Thuan Province, the 2023 National Year of Tourism activities will be held in Binh Thuan, etc.
