The full name of Women's Day is "United Nations Women's Rights and International Peace Day", also known as "International Women's Day", "38th Day" and "38th Women's Day".

The birth of International Women's Day was jointly promoted by a series of feminist movements in Europe and the Americas in the early 20th century, rather than the "International Women's Day" that people take for granted:

In 1909, the American Socialists designated February 28 as National Women's Day;

In 1910, more than 100 women delegates from 17 countries, led by Clara Zetkin, planned to establish International Women's Day at the Copenhagen Conference of the Second International;

On March 19, 1911, more than 1 million women gathered in Austria, Denmark, Germany and Switzerland to celebrate International Women's Day;

On the last Sunday in February 1913, Russian women celebrated their International Women's Day with demonstrations against the First World War; On March 8, 1914, women from many European countries held anti-war demonstrations;

On March 8, 1917 (February 23, 1917), Russian women went on strike to commemorate the nearly 2 million Russian women who died in World War I, kicking off the February Revolution, and four days later, the Tsar was forced to abdicate and the Provisional Government announced that women would be given the right to vote.
