Small birds with a body length of 9.5–11 cm. The crown of the head is chestnut-red, the dorsal bluish-grey , the tail length is convex, and the outer tail feathers have wedge-shaped white spots. The chin and throat are white, the middle of the throat has a black patch, the chest and abdomen are white or light brownish-yellow, and the chest and abdomen are white with chestnut bands and two flanks maroon. It inhabits montane forests and shrub forests, and is also found in small forests near human settlements such as orchards and tea plantations. The population is relatively abundant, and it mainly feeds on insects, which is of great significance in plant protection.
