Danzhou Rong Media Center News At 3 p.m. on February 28, the 8th Hainan Provincial Paralympic Games and the 5th Special Olympics Xiangqi Competition began, and a total of 23 athletes from 13 cities and counties including Haikou, Danzhou, Qionghai and Ledong gathered in Danzhou to compete in the chessboard world.
On the same day, the reporter saw at the competition site that the athletes sat in pairs and concentrated on the game, while the referees and volunteers on the side did a good job of relevant referees and services. In the visually disabled competition area, athletes wear black eye patches, from time to time touch the chess pieces with their hands on the chessboard covered with openwork spaces, and after dictating the movements of the opposing athlete through the referee, they think of their own chess path in their brains, and then dictate them to the referee, who is responsible for moving the chess pieces.
"In Para chess, athletes in the physically disabled and hearing disabled groups use the same chess as regular chess. However, the visually disabled group plays 'blind chess', which requires athletes to accurately remember their own and opponent's chess roadmaps, which is very difficult to test memory and spatial imagination. Ma Jing, the chief chess project director, said.
It is reported that the competition will be held from February 28 to March 2. The competition is divided into physical disability group, hearing disability group and visual disability group. The competition rules are implemented in accordance with the latest "Xiangqi Competition Rules" (2011 version) approved by the Chinese Xiangqi Association. The game lasts 25 minutes per side, with 10 seconds added to each move. The competition format is based on the number of applicants, using a points system or a round-robin system.
All competitions of the Xiangqi event of this Provincial Paralympic Games will end on the morning of March 2, and an award ceremony will be held, and gold, silver, bronze medals and award certificates will be awarded to the top three athletes in each event, and award certificates will be issued to athletes who have won other rankings.
