It's hard to get to the hall with a limp
The mystery lasted until 1958, when archaeological excavations of the Ming Ding Mausoleum were carried out under the leadership of Guo Moruo, director of the Institute of Chinese History, and Wu Han, an expert in archaeology. After the coffin was opened, everyone was silent - the Wanli Emperor's two legs were one long and one short, and his right leg was obviously much shorter than his left leg.

My grandfather is Jiajing
Jiajing was the longest-lived emperor of the Ming Dynasty, while Wanli was the longest-reigning emperor of the Ming Dynasty. In the early morning of 1542, Jiajing was almost strangled to death by a palace maid. Since then, he has moved into the West Garden office, and the king has never been in the imperial court again. Even so, Emperor Jiajing was strategizing. The Wanli Emperor, as the grandson of the Jiajing Emperor, followed his grandfather's example and was confident that he could manage the Ming Dynasty in an orderly manner without going to the dynasty. In fact, the various organizational structures of the Ming Dynasty were very reasonable and perfect, and everyone performed their own duties, and he achieved the goal of controlling the government of the dynasty without going to the dynasty.
The struggle for national capital is strong
The first decade after the Wanli Emperor ascended the throne was the decade when Zhang Juzheng was in power. During these ten years, Wanli tasted losing power, so after Zhang Juzheng's death, he vowed to be an emperor who was monopolistic and county. As a result, the first thing after coming to power was stuck in the matter of founding the country.
The Wanli Emperor was bent on making his son Zhu Changxun and Concubine Zheng Guifei crown prince, but the ministers strongly advised his eldest son Zhu Changluo as emperor. The Wanli Emperor and his ministers had a quarrel over the establishment of heirs and stalemated for 15 years. During this period, 4 chief assistants were forced to retire, more than 10 ministerial-level officials were demoted, more than 100 Beijing division officials and more than 100 local officials were implicated, and even assigned to the army.
Even so, Wanli did not get his wish in the end. The ministers still pressed his head and hands and forced him to make his least favorite Zhu Changluo crown prince. In fact, Zhu Changluo's child did not argue, and he was finished as an emperor for a month.
I don't care about my territory
One Zhang Juzheng died, and thousands of Zhang Juzheng stood up again.
The ministers are really too broad - military affairs, the cabinet and the six ministries must be mixed, even the eunuchs of the superintendent of ceremonies must come over to make a splash, and the military, government, and civilian affairs of the thirteen provinces of Daming and Beijing, there is not a single thing that Wanli himself can do.

Wanli wanted to invite guests to dinner, the ministers said that the treasury had no money, Wanli wanted to go out and wander, the ministers said that it was dangerous outside, Wanli wanted to take concubines and choose concubines, the ministers said that it was an absurd act, Wanli wanted to sleep in, and the ministers said that it was a style of neglect.
The occurrence of this series of events will only make the Wanli Emperor feel hopeless, despair of his imperial career, and despair of the political ecology of the Daming Dynasty.
