Professor Li Yining, a well-known economist, died in Beijing on February 27.
In the 1980s, I interviewed him several times as a reporter for the China News Service. At that time, he put forward unique theories and propositions on China's economic reform, the most influential of which was the joint-stock economy he advocated at the National Labor Wage Forum in May 1980 and has been adhering to for many years.
During the interview, I found that Mr. Li Yining is not only rigorous in economics, diligent in writing, and has many achievements, but also has quite achievements in literature, and writes bright and fluent good words.
Li Yining shows his most passionate side in his words: husband and wife love, deep love, and friendship between the same window, which become poetry and pictures on the paper.

His wife, He Yuchun, is a senior engineer specializing in power engineering. The author visited Lizhai for the first time, and I felt the harmony and tacit understanding between their husband and wife. When Li Yining talked about his economic views, He Yuchun sat quietly on the sidelines, occasionally interjecting a few words, all just right. Li Yining explained: "She spends all day with me, reads my articles, and helps me design some economic relationship framework diagrams and diagrams, so she can also explain my economic views." ”
Among the more than 20 monographs written by Li Yining, he regarded "Socialist Political Economy" and "National Economic Management" as elaborate works, because these two books were the culmination of Li's theory. In the afterword to both books, Li Yining has an affectionate text thanking his wife He Yuchun and calling her the book's "first reader."
The two have known each other since childhood, and they can be described as childhood sweethearts. The sweetness of falling in love back then is evidenced by Li Yining's two songs "Huan Xi Sha":

It is difficult to make a song after several times, even if the song is only self-aware.
It was not until the "Cultural Revolution" when Li Yining was sent to Jiangxi to work and He Yuchun also settled in the countryside that the two ended their annual meeting at Queqiao and settled in their home at the "Five and Seven Cadre School." Although this is just a thatched hut with four walls, Li Yining still gladly ordered to write another song "Partridge Day" for the reunion of the husband and wife:
The past is difficult to leave a smile, and there is no trace of ten years of worry.
Silver hoes build side roads together, and huts cover the wind after rain.
The morning dew is cold, the sunset is red, and the night before the door is fragrant.
Even if the sweat stains are there, it is like Guan Shan is ten thousand weights.
Later, they had a warm and comfortable home, and in recent years the husband and wife have almost been together. Whether Li Yining went abroad to give lectures or go abroad for investigation, he always brought his wife with him as much as possible. Their northwest trip, which ended not long ago, traveled more than 4,000 kilometers by car from Lanzhou to southern Xinjiang in more than a month.
Li Yining and his wife have both children: the eldest is their daughter Li Fang, and the youngest is their son Li Wei. Both were educated in economic theory. The son still lives with his parents after marriage, and the happy characters posted on the door of the new house add a bit of red to this quiet scholar's bookstore.
He has always cherished the song "Joke Order" that his father filled in for him, which was still his father's improvisation when he was a toddler:
Piercing, wearing, little bird's nest side to find the way.
Gently wave the wings low, stop and take off again.
Fly, fly, tomorrow is long.
Now the "little swallow" has spread its wings and soared. Li Wei first studied chemistry, then transferred to economics, and received a master's degree in economics in 1990.
He grew up bright and adventurous. He was not willing to study economics in books or textbooks, he longed to break into the world in the rapidly changing economic ocean, so he went to Hainan and Shenzhen, just as Li Yining said "stop and take off again", he is learning again.
Li Yining never favors sons over women, and he is fierce to his daughter, and he also loves abnormalities. Li Fang did not live up to her father's high expectations, and after returning from the team, she was directly admitted to the graduate school and obtained a master's degree in finance, and then went to Japan to study and then obtained a master's degree in administrative management. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Economics in Australia.
Girls are single and far away in a foreign country, which naturally affects the hearts of their parents more. The photos she sent back were carefully pasted in the photo album by her mother, a precious copy of the "family file" kept by He Yuchun.
When Li Yining graduated from graduate school in 1985, Li Yining filled in the words of "Partridge Day" to encourage her to climb the peak of her studies:
After years of ups and downs, climbing the mountain and not asking the height of the mountain.

Li Yining values friendship. After he entered Peking University, he was surrounded by many good friends, and although they studied different majors, through mutual exchanges and arguments, Li Yining's horizons were greatly broadened and became his rare learning partner at that time.
More than thirty years later, when he recalls his college life and these good friends, he still sighs: "This is the most nostalgic thing." ”
Among these friends, Zhao Huijie is in the same window as him in middle school, and there is another unusual friendship:
In 1951, when Li Yining took the college examination, he entrusted Zhao Huijie, who was studying in the history department of Peking University at the time, to register on his behalf. Zhao believes that Li Yining is interested in arts and sciences and has a foundation, plus he also worked as an accountant, so he chose the Department of Economics of Peking University on his behalf.
Li Yining said: "To this day, I still feel that the choice made by Zhao Hui on my behalf is the best choice. After enrolling, he also translated economic works and papers on Herzen and Chernyshevsky with Zhao Huijie.
In 1958, Zhao Huijie graduated from graduate school and was assigned to work at Lanzhou University, and Li Yining bid farewell with a song "Heavenly Fairy":

In 2018, the Commercial Press published The Complete Poems of Li Yining, which is divided into four volumes, organizing and recording all 1,600 of Mr. Li's poems since 1947 chronologically.
The first volume records 319 poems written by Mr. Li between 1973 and 1995. Contains rhyme poems, lyrics, free-form poems, etc. Each poem is followed by notes, some explaining the author's background to writing, others commenting on the poem itself.
From these poems, we can see Mr. Li's love and dedication to work and life, which is also a true epitome of his literary creation. I will pick two more of them to express my eternal remembrance and reverence for Mr. Li:
