[Barcelona, Spain, February 26, 2023] During the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Huawei released the Huawei Imaging XMAGE 2023 Annual Trend Report. This is Huawei's first trend report since the launch of its new mobile imaging brand XMAGE in 2022. Based on the XMAGE brand, Huawei's mobile imaging strategy mainly focuses on three dimensions: technological innovation, shooting experience, and image culture.

Li Changzhu, Vice President of Huawei's Device BG Strategy Marketing Department and judge of the New Image Competition, said that imaging has become the lingua franca of people around the world, and mobile phones are playing an increasingly important role in this new trend. He presented this latest trend report at the XMAGE salon event featuring moving image trend insights. Based on the submissions of the New Image Contest, the report conducts in-depth research and analysis on the trend of video works taken by Huawei mobile phone users.

Li Changzhu pointed out: "The birth of XMAGE marks a new stage in moving imagery. We are committed to bringing unique, beautiful and extraordinary mobile image experiences to users around the world through technological innovation, and building a mobile image culture together. According to research, more than 1.4 trillion photos are taken around the world each year, more than 89% of which are taken through mobile phones.

During the event, leading figures from the cultural and artistic worlds, top photographers, visual sociologists and student representatives shared their insights into innovation and culture, the report's key findings, and the future of moving imagery.

Technology not only improves the quality of video works, but also helps ordinary people create meaningful, impactful works at any time. ”

Now more than ever, images are worth sharing with others, and smartphones are increasingly influencing the photographic experience.

Nichole Fernandez, a visual sociologist and one of the report's lead authors, said of the Huawei phones that photographed the competition: "It can be seen from these submissions that these phones have a very powerful photo function, allowing every mobile phone user to become an image creator. Even people without professional training can become photographers, capturing moments they find meaningful and creating entries they are proud of. Image creation is becoming more and more common. ”

The Huawei New Image Contest has been held annually since 2017 to inspire mobile phone users around the world to create photography and explore new ways of image expression and artistic pursuit. In the past six years, Huawei mobile phone users from more than 170 countries and regions have participated in the event, and nearly 4 million works have been submitted.

This year, Huawei partnered with creative company FactStory to invite visual industry analysts to study the photos and videos, share their insights on how participants used Huawei phones to shoot, and focus on the sociological, psychological, and emotional implications of these carefully captured images.
