Putuo Mountain, one of the four major Buddhist shrines on the mainland, houses a giant statue of Guanyin, which has seen several bodhisattva apparitions in the decades since its inception. The most famous of these is the 1997 Nanhai Guanyin Opening Ceremony, which was witnessed by more than 3,000 people, and during the opening ceremony, there was a sacred scene of Guanyin Bodhisattva stepping on auspicious clouds in the sky, and it lasted for several minutes. And similar things have happened many times in Putuo Mountain, which also adds a lot of mystery to Putuo Mountain!

In September 1997, the inauguration ceremony of Nanhai Guanyin was held on Putuo Mountain, and it was rainy and rainy for a few days before the festival. Just when the festival officially began, after the master tore off the red cloth covering the head of the Buddha statue, the dark clouds in the sky slowly dispersed, and a strong dazzling light shone down from the sky, coincidentally shining on the 33-meter-tall Guanyin Buddha statue, and suddenly the Buddha statue shone with golden light, emitting thousands of rays of light, and behind the head of the Buddha statue, "Buddha light" appeared.
See this, if someone says it's not a coincidence? What is the fuss, then what happened next, the coincidence may not be explained.
Just as everyone was sighing at this spectacle, someone suddenly shouted: Look at the sky, Guanyin has appeared! As soon as everyone raised their heads, a silver-white icon of Guanyin Bodhisattva actually appeared in the sky, which made the believers who came from all over the world to watch the ceremony excited, and they all visited and shouted: Bodhisattva bless! The icon stayed in the air for a few minutes, and several times below the icon appeared clouds of lotus color, also for several minutes, and what is even more rare is that the lotus cloud did not drift away with the wind, but stayed there.
More than 3,000 people witnessed this spectacle at that time, which caused a great sensation. Those present believed that this was the manifestation of Avalokiteshvara, and many people were convinced of this.
Typhoon sudden diversion event
On July 9, 2015, the once-in-a-60-year typhoon "Canhong" hit Putuo Mountain in Zhejiang Province at a speed of 20 kilometers per hour, but when everyone was tensing their nerves to prepare for the upcoming typhoon disaster, a strange scene happened!
The typhoon that was about to climb Mount Putuo was about to take a big turn without warning, and in a blink of an eye, it rushed to Japan, and Putuo Mountain, which was originally at the center of the typhoon, turned unscathed!
Coincidentally, in 2017, Typhoon "Telly" also rushed towards Putuo Mountain at an amazing speed, this time the typhoon was even more ferocious than in 2015, and some netizens speculated whether it would turn again this time? While everyone was anxiously waiting, a miracle reappeared, and when the typhoon was about to come, it turned around again and rushed towards Japan. What is the truth?
For the 1997 Buddha statue inauguration ceremony, some people questioned that this was a special effect deliberately created by the master, I think that even now it may not be able to create such an effect, who can make the dark clouds automatically disperse at a specific point in time? Who can project a statue of Guanyin Buddha into the sky without being discovered by so many people? After all, the projected image of that era was bound to have a beam, as shown in the figure below, so it is unlikely that more than 3,000 people will make small movements under the noses of more than 3,000 people without being detected.
Some experts say this is a "mirage". Scientists believe that mirages are virtual images formed by the refraction of the atmosphere reflected by objects on Earth, and the so-called mirages are optical illusions.
Mirages have two characteristics, one is that the location is repeated, that is, the possibility of mirages appearing again in places where mirages have appeared; The second is the repetition of the time of occurrence, such as September, and the probability of future occurrence is more likely around September.
In the "Putuo Mountain Record", it is said that Dr. Sun Yat-sen saw a strange scene on Foding Mountain at that time, and Mr. Sun Yat-sen left an article entitled "You Putuo Zhiqi" to record this incident, which described his witness to the wonderland of Buddha statues. The time of occurrence is August, so it is very in line with the two characteristics of mirages.
It is still a little difficult to explain this incident in 97 with a "mirage", and the typhoon's two diversions are really magical, and these things are not clear at present.
