Recently, when he was photographing black-necked cranes in Nian Lake, he suddenly found a bird with colorful feathers.

"When I was leaving, I found that there was a bird here, which was different from other breeds, and the color was also very good-looking, so I photographed it, and after careful identification, I was sure that it was a purple water chicken, because I had been to Dali to shoot the purple water chicken before." Liu Yuncheng said.

The purple waterfowl is a bird of the genus Cyprinidae, except for the white tail feathers, the rest of the feathers are blue-purple and the feet are dark red, known as "the most beautiful waterbird in the world". It is mainly distributed in Africa, southern Asia and Oceania, and is only rare in the southwest of the continent, and is a world-class endangered bird. In 2021, it was newly added to the National List of Wildlife under Key Protection II.

The great egret is a species of bird in the genus Heron in the family Peliformidae. Great egrets have been recorded in the Huize Black-necked Crane National Nature Reserve, but have not been seen in the reserve for nearly a decade.

In recent years, the Management and Protection Bureau of Huize Black-necked Crane National Nature Reserve has taken multiple measures to improve the ecological environment. Video surveillance systems, electronic fences and other monitoring and management facilities have been built; Build a food source base for black-necked cranes, sow 300 mu of potatoes in the way of "only planting but not harvesting", planting 50,000 mu of high-yield oats in the way of community construction, and "meat and vegetable combination" of fish and shrimp in Nian Lake, providing a "well-fed and well-fed" food source environment for birds such as black-necked cranes. In 2022, 2,100 mu of wetlands were restored, turning the original seasonal wetlands into permanent wetlands, the ecological environment of the reserve continued to improve, and the number of wintering migratory birds increased year by year.
