"Black Panther 2" has a Douban score of 5.5, small scenes, poor special effects, and a low story, and Marvel is terminally ill

When Chadwick Boseman signed with Marvel, he signed a contract for six movies in one go. Because of this, the script for "Black Panther 2", which was set up early on for filming, was almost entirely tailored for Chadwick Boseman. And Boseman's sudden death also made the story of the film "Black Panther 2" have to be greatly changed and adjusted.

The first challenge the creative team had to face was how to deal with the ending of King T'Challa in the film and naturally transition to the story of the sequel.

As a heavyweight character with great audience appeal, Black Panther, launched in the third phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, was originally to take over the baton and become the main member of the "New Avengers" after the original Avengers members left one after another, and took on the heavy responsibility of guarding the earth with characters such as Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, and Wanda.

As an important asset of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Bosman's death will not lead to the early end of Wakanda's story, but considering the important contributions of Bosman himself and the popularity of King T'Challa as he plays around the world. Marvel still customized an exclusive Boseman reminiscence title for "Black Panther 2", and arranged a grand funeral for King T'Challa in the story at the beginning of the film, making the movie echo reality to some extent.

The movie officially begins a year after the funeral, and since the Black Panther, the guardian of Wakanda, has passed away, the various forces that were originally afraid of it and have an eye on vibranium resources have begun to take secret actions. In particular, those Western developed countries that have made big accusations against Wakanda's foreign policy at international conferences have secretly sent special forces personnel to plot to seize vibranium resources, and even secretly want to subvert Wakanda's state power.

However, although Wakanda has no Black Panther, there is still an old queen who is tough and not afraid of threats. Under her covert dispatch, Wakanda's escort not only guarded the exchange center with vibranium resources, but also successfully captured members of the special forces involved in the covert operation, and these soldiers were eventually brought to the United Nations meeting site, leaving the originally cheerful representatives of Western countries speechless.

However, the real threat to Wakanda has only just arrived.

Unable to obtain valuable vibranium resources from Wakanda, a U.S. scientific team, with the support of the government and military, began a mysterious exploration of a certain part of the Atlantic Ocean. However, he accidentally angers the mysterious Talokan tribe who lives in seclusion, and the leader of the tribe, Namo, who has strange superpowers, believes that the land world will destroy everything, and he wants to unite with Wakanda to attack other countries, and if this wish is not fulfilled, destroy Wakanda first.

On the one hand, other countries are under threat to vibranium resources, and on the other hand, the mysterious ocean tribe is about to attack Wakanda, can the princess Su Rui, who once lived completely under the protection of her mother and brother, be able to stand alone and become the character destined to become - a new generation of black panthers? And will she be able to rally her people to protect their homeland and stop Namo's ambitions to conquer the world? It all leaves it up to the audience to go into the cinema to find out.

In general, compared with the previous work, "Black Panther 2" is more diverse in terms of action scenes, genre elements, theme cores and other aspects. The story of the first part mainly reviews the dark and heavy colonial history of Africa, and explores how people living in the current era should remember the tragedy and suffering of the past from the very different choices of Eric and T'Challa - whether to repeat the tragedy and suffering in history with the extreme revenge of-for-tat and eye-for-eye, or to promote the progress of social civilization by opening up to the outside world and peaceful development to avoid the recurrence of tragedy.

The theme of the story of the second part can be said to be in the same vein as the previous work, and Princess Su Rui, who took over the heavy responsibility after her brother and mother, also needs to face how to deal with tragedy and hatred - is it to use force to solve the problem by any means like the enemy, or to try to avoid innocent people becoming victims of hatred?

The storyline of two peoples and countries with the same heavy history in the new era over how to deal with external shocks and challenges gradually evolved into war conflicts, and it is difficult not to think of the continuous violent conflicts in some regions of the current era.

As a commercial film produced by Hollywood, "Black Panther 2", which is almost entirely made by African-American teams, does not deliberately beautify the historical image of the West, but unveils the sanctimonious image of some European countries at the beginning of the story.

After the film was released, it received a 6.9 score on the IMDB platform, while the film had a lower rating on Douban. The reasons for many audiences to score low can be said to be varied, of course, it does highlight the development crisis that the Marvel Cinematic Universe has to face at present, and the film does have some unsatisfactory places. But the reasons why some viewers gave bad reviews are puzzling.

Some viewers said that African civilization and Latin American civilization, two brothers and brothers with colonial history, went to war in full swing in the movie, and the white man as a bloodsucker did not seem to have much presence in the film, and even felt like sitting on a mountain and watching a tiger fight.

But if you understand the basic setting of the film, you will understand that the mysterious Talokan tribe is still unknown to outsiders, so how does the European country that is eyeing the tiger know that Wakanda and Taroken are at war? And in the Easter egg at the end of the movie, through Namo's words, we can also speculate that the story of the conflict between Wakanda, Taroken and Western civilization is still not completely over.

Go to war just because of vibranium resources? In the real world, the United States not only united many countries to fight a "Gulf War" for oil resources, but even used a test tube containing washing powder as evidence that Iraq possessed weapons of mass destruction at the United Nations General Assembly, and brazenly launched the Iraq War again.

The use of elements of African and Latin American culture in a film is cultural appropriation? So what if cultural elements from other countries appear in Chinese films? Shouldn't it be normal to promote exchanges, cooperation and innovation between different cultures in the current context of globalization? Shouldn't the truly harmful cultural appropriation be the kind of work that uses the characteristics of other national cultures but refuses to recognize them, or even treats them as original?

It can be seen that behind this simple and crude judgment that as long as other countries' cultural characteristics appear in Hollywood blockbusters is cultural appropriation, there is a conservative and arrogant national prejudice, and under this prejudice and hostile attitude, we seem to see that anti-globalization thinking is gradually taking root. However, the heavy suffering of modern China has made it clear that anti-globalization thinking and conservative attitudes are harmful.

I think the main problem of the film is the shrinkage of the scale of the scene, and the overly superficial and even childish depiction of the conflict between Wakanda and Taroken.

Since "Avengers 4", several films in the fourth phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe have relied heavily on the use of CG special effects, ignoring the biggest winning weapon of popcorn blockbusters - shooting well.

Whether it's the unsatisfactory presentation of the multiverse in "Doctor Strange 2", or the village fight at the end of "Shangqi"... In terms of scale and scenes, they failed to meet the audience's expectations for "cool", and the control of narrative rhythm was not as good as before.

"Black Panther 2" is no exception, whether it is the second act Namor can invade Wakanda with a few random men, or the battle between Wakanda and Taroken in the third act actually takes place on a large ship, and the number of people on both sides may not add up to a thousand. And Namo, as the supreme ruler of Taroken, just made a pre-war mobilization for his people at the beginning of the second act, and as a result, the end of the movie casually said a truce, and it was really a truce?

It is these details that make "Black Panther 2" fail to deliver an answer sheet that satisfies fans and audiences under the premise that the script itself is not too problematic.
