On September 27, at the 2021 Zhongguancun Forum New Technology and New Product Launch and Promotion Conference, Beijing Jiutian MSI Technology Development Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Jiutian MSI"), a commercial satellite company, released a new generation of on-board multi-beam phased array antennas.

In China's satellite Internet industry chain, multi-beam phased array antennas are conducive to optimizing the supply chain of commercial satellites and terminal products, reducing the cost of satellite Internet infrastructure, and leading the integration and development of Internet technology in heaven and earth. For equipment such as 5G satellites, radar satellites and even satellite terminals, multi-beam phased array antenna technology is crucial.

Nine days, MSI released a satellite multi-beam phased array antenna to promote the growth of satellite communication capacity

Nine days of MSI introduced, taking 5G satellites as an example, it needs to cover a large area during high-speed movement, which requires the antenna to have the ability to work at the same time with multiple beams and quickly switch directions. At present, the multi-beam antenna commonly used by communication satellites mainly includes parabolic antennas, waveguide gap array antennas, etc., and the control implementation is more complicated, and the beam pointing switching relies on the servo mechanism, which is difficult to achieve rapid switching.

Multi-beam phased array antennas through digital control, so that the antenna system can simultaneously receive or transmit wireless signals from different directions, compared with the traditional antenna beam switching speed significantly improved, longer service life, lighter weight. By serving users in multiple directions simultaneously, a multi-beam digital phased array can exponentially increase a satellite's communication capacity.

Nine Days MSI said that multi-beam phased array is one of the core technologies of 5G satellite communication systems. With the development of 5G technology and advanced chip technology, more and more satellites will adopt phased array antennas, and there is currently no low-orbit broadband satellite equipped with multi-beam phased array antennas in China.

Founded in 2015, Nine Days MSI is a domestic microsatellite industry chain service provider, providing government and enterprise customers with commercial satellite customization, constellation core services, industry terminal applications and aerospace science and education systems. The goal is to develop and design technology and products for the 6G era, and promote the integration and development of terrestrial networks and satellite networks.

In 2018, nine days of MSI launched a total of 8 satellites twice, all of which were successfully operated in orbit, taking the lead in realizing the design and development of 100-kilogram satellites and on-orbit verification.

Since 2019, Nine Days MSI has represented private enterprises in the construction of new satellite Internet infrastructure. In 2021, the first private satellite factory approved by the National Development and Reform Commission completed the construction of the first phase of the project and entered the stage of full commissioning of the workshop production line equipment.
