On January 19, the "Rose Country - Syrian Ancient Cultural Relics Exhibition" of the Hebei Museum telling the "World Story" met the audience in the exhibition halls 13 and 14 of the northern area of the hospital.

Syria's ancient name "Suristaon", which means "land of roses", the capital Damascus rose is one of the oldest and most precious rose varieties in the world, so Syria is also known as the "country of roses". Located at the crossroads of Asia, Europe and Africa, Syria is not only one of the birthplaces of world civilization, but also an important participant in Silk Road civilization. In the long history of Syria, due to its unique geographical location, Syria has given birth to a unique Syrian culture after the collision, conflict, exchange and integration of many civilizations, preserving thousands of ancient sites and colorful historical heritage. China and Syria are divided into the eastern and western ends of Asia, the ancient Silk Road connects thousands of rivers and mountains, and the exchanges and friendship between the two ancient civilizations span thousands of years and endure.
This exhibition brings together exquisite cultural relics from 9 museums in Syria, and specially selects some collections of 3 cultural and museum institutions in China, Dunhuang Academy, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Museum and Xi'an Forest of Steles Museum, with a total of 198 pieces/groups, of which 195 pieces/groups are from Syria. The exhibition is divided into five parts: "Hatsune and Dawn", "Faith and Eternity", "Collapse and Opportunity", "Classics and Refinement", and "Silk Road and Inheritance", aiming to further interpret Syrian civilization for domestic audiences and highlight the characteristics of Asian cultural proximity and geographical proximity, cultural affinity, harmony and peace from different angles.
Qi Yu, project leader of the International Liaison Office of the China Cultural Heritage Exchange Center, said: "The cultural relics exhibited this time have a rich variety of materials, including pottery, bronze, iron and gold and silver, and the time span starts from the Paleolithic period, then the Bronze Age, the Iron Age, etc., and finally tells about the exchanges between China and Syria on the Silk Road. The oldest piece of artifacts on display is 500,000 years old. ”
Walking into the hall, you can see a Paleolithic hand axe, this artifact is not only finely made, but also glimpses the first germination of the aesthetic of the ancients. Walking through the exhibition hall, you can also see worship statues, exquisite clay pots, and very delicate tiles with blue and green patterns, as well as beautiful gold ornaments, handicrafts, etc., the exhibits are full of exotic style.
According to reports, the planting area of Damascus roses has spread all over the world, and Syria's splendid ancient cultural heritage is also like the refreshing fragrance of roses, attracting the attention of the world. The organizers said that this time, the precious cultural relics from this ancient and young rose country will surely bring the audience's thoughts to the distant and intimate Damascus, witness the wealth and prosperity that was once splendid like a garden, feel the vicissitudes and vitality of the changing seasons today, and taste the friendly chapter written by the peoples of all countries on the ancient Silk Road and recited through the ages. The exhibition will remain open until April 9, 2023.
