The Czech Republic is a big country for beer and consumption, with an annual per capita consumption of nearly 200 liters, more than Germany, and has been ranked first in the world for many consecutive years.

The Czech Republic did not join the eurozone, but has always used its own currency, the Czech koruna. But the Czech Republic lifted the rules that restricted its borders. People from neighbouring countries are free to enter and leave the country.

Prague Spring events

After the end of the First World War, on October 28, 1918, the Czech Republic and Slovakia formed an alliance to form Czechoslovakia. In the middle, the name was changed twice, and finally on January 1, 1993, each of them became a peaceful independent and became a sovereign state, known in history as the "Velvet Separation".

In 1968, the new First Secretary of Czechoslovakia, Dubcek, proposed a "new, democratic socialist model that met the conditions of Czechoslovakia", which received a strong response from the people of the whole country and showed signs of turning to Western capitalism. Strongly opposed by the Soviet Union, the Soviet Union decided to intervene by force.

At 11 p.m. on August 20, 1968, a Soviet civil aviation aircraft made a forced landing at Prague Airport on the grounds that the aircraft was malfunctioning. Commandos, consisting of dozens of servicemen, rushed out of the cabin and captured the airfield. Soviet airborne divisions followed, and at the same time Soviet Panzer and Infantry Divisions began to attack Czechoslovakia.

Six hours later, Soviet troops occupied all of the Czech Republic without bloodshed and arrested the new First Secretary, Dubcek.
