Learned the epidermis of the Ori series, but forgot the essence
As a Metroidvania-like game lover, I have collected "Ori 2: Elves and Will of Fire", which is one of the best in terms of graphics and gameplay.
To get back to business, the Metroid-like flavor of "Mirror of Shimmer" is a little thinner, the map design is average, and there are only a handful of hidden objects.
The only thing worth praising may be that this work gives full play to the character's abilities, especially in boss battles, but unfortunately there are only those abilities. At the same time, the feel of this work is also almost meaningful, the feedback is not only not obvious enough, but also can only shoot left and right, can not (obliquely) attack upward, of course, the current attack method is definitely more than enough for the few enemy types in the game.
It is worth mentioning that the chase battle in the third chapter is still quite thrilling, the personal hand has been crippled several times, and several abilities must be flexibly used to successfully escape, and it is an unexpected joy to pick up two items on the way.
The plot is slightly dragging, but it can't stand the funny spit of NPCs
The plot of this work is actually a little dragged on, but fortunately it can be accelerated by pressing H, which is considered to be discovered by the conscience of the production team, but it cannot skip the boss prelude (repeated), which makes handicapped players feel a little painful.
Personally, I can only say that NPCs have saved the scene, and from time to time they have made official complaints, such as not going up with the current bounce power or not qualified enough to explore ahead. At the same time, the makers cleverly replaced the mirror element ability with a pet, although only one can be carried (the upper limit is four), but fighting together can make people feel less lonely, and the longer the battle, the higher the favorability, and this ability will grow accordingly.
Every four mirror seeds can randomly hatch a fairy, which is like opening a blind box, which is extremely exciting!

In general, the general framework of Metroidvania-like City is there, but it is not obvious enough, specifically reflected in the map design and ability distribution, only the picture and music pass, it is really a bit tasteless, and it is a pity to abandon it.
Of course, some of the game's basic growth still exists, such as health and magic caps (the former is directly increased, the latter needs to be synthesized).
Finally, praise the thoughtfulness of the maker, there is no touch damage in this game, which makes the game difficult a lot. And you can also set up precise jumps, although there are few difficulties, but it is better than nothing.
