The overall tone of this movie is quite depressing, there are basically no heart-warming scenes, and some are just cold human nature.
What it wants to tell is the "judge" mentality that exists in most people's minds.
What is the judge mentality? In layman's terms, it is a psychology that allows oneself to stand on the moral high ground to judge people with low moral conduct, so as to obtain the pleasure of satisfying the desire for power.
In the movie "Hunting", the protagonist's teacher suffered tragically, because the false accusation of the bear child brought him into a situation of irreparable disaster.
But the funny thing is that as a good gentleman who has been getting along with the residents day and night before, no one believed him after the accident, and they all thought that he was Yue Buqun.
If it was initially because this matter can be big or small, it is understandable to have doubts, but later the police came to investigate and said that there was no evidence, but they still doubted, which is obviously a manifestation of the mentality of the judge.
Throughout the town, there is suddenly a morally corrupt hypocrite, making everyone look like a white lotus in front of him, everyone can find superiority in him, and everyone can stand on the moral high ground to "maintain justice".
How wonderful is it for the residents to laugh at him when he is happy, and directly insult, drive away or even beat him when he is unhappy?
Even in order to maintain this status quo, the above plots occur in the middle of the film.
Some people do not hesitate to fabricate false things to forcibly deepen the "crimes" of teachers, and it is the bad things that others have done, and they also push them on teachers.
Even after seeing the teacher's tragic situation, the little girl admitted that she was lying, but the residents still said:

It is true that some people in the town are indeed upholding justice, but more are enjoying the pleasure of judging others, how can this kind of thing be ruined by a little girl?
As for whether the teachers themselves have been wronged, in fact, many residents do not care at all, what they care about is that they must be nailed to the pillars of bad people, because so that they can continue to play the role of judges.
A gunshot at the end shows this even more vividly.
At that time, the protagonist has been completely proven innocent, and the residents have recognized it on the surface, but behind the scenes, there are still people who have malicious intentions towards this good-hearted teacher.
Why?
Because of the existence of the teachers themselves, the "judges" have felt very uncomfortable. As long as the teacher is alive, the residents will think about how they once tried to frame him.
Townspeople who really want to maintain justice will feel stupid, and the presence of teachers constantly reminds them that "you are a stupid person", and after reconciliation with teachers, it is only superficial peace.
As for most residents who want to be judges, the presence of teachers reminds them to face the fact that "you are not actually a good person."
Human nature is not black and white, including this group of "judges", if they are simply "black", then there is no need to put various charges on teachers, directly beaten and bully.
It is precisely because of this mentality that they need to put themselves with the title of "messenger of justice" so that their judgment of others will appear just, reasonable and even blameless.
However, the teacher was eventually proven innocent and ripped off the last fig leaf of the residents.
"You don't really want to uphold justice, you just want to judge others on the moral high ground, you want to justify your violent behavior."

I have to say that compared to those popcorn movies that win with scene special effects, drama movies are indeed more impressive.
Most commercial movies, maybe the audience will forget the plot after watching it, and ask them what impression they have of the film every once in a while, and the answer is basically: the special effects are good.
There are only some movies with profound plots that will make the audience taste them repeatedly.
