The 17th Jeonju International Film Festival (JIFF) held an opening red carpet ceremony on April 28 on Jeonju Film Street, and announced the official opening of the 10-day film festival at the opening ceremony afterwards. The Festival also includes weekends, Children's Day, temporary holidays and other holidays, and it is expected that many audiences will travel to Jeonju.

Actors Lee Jong-hyuk and Yoo Sun served as the hosts of the opening ceremony, and more than 2,000 spectators gathered in the Movie Street to get close to the filmmakers. At the red carpet ceremony, the actor An Zaihong, who played "Zhengfeng" in "Please Answer 1988", appeared as a director and attracted much attention. Zheng Jae-yong, Han Yili, Kim Young-wan, An Sung-ki, Yi Ji-won, Lee Seok-yeon, Jeon Hye-bin and other actors who served as judges in the international competition unit also made their debuts.

The opening film of the festival was the jazz trumpeter Charter Baker biopic Born to Be Blue, starring Ethan Hawke. During the festival, 211 films (163 feature films and 48 short films) from 45 countries were screened in 10 departments, including the main competition unit, the world film screening unit, and the midnight screening unit. This will be followed by a closing ceremony on May 7, with the screening of the closing film "Not Good to Die".

Jeonju Executive Chairman Lee Chung-chiong said: "Many pre-sales of films have been sold out before the opening, which proves that this year's Jeonju International Film Festival has attracted a lot of attention from audiences. More than 500 screenings of all films will be screened this year in 19 auditoriums in 5 theaters. I hope that the audience can also enjoy this 10-day film celebration together. ”

The Jeonju International Film Festival has always been a film festival mainly based on independent films, and has become the dream cradle of many independent filmmakers.
