Blocked from renewing in Cambodia? Minors need to pay attention to these matters when applying for renewal

Recently, Mr. Lu, a reader of Pan Asia Life, told reporters about a "bad thing" he encountered: when he renewed the visa of his minor daughter, he was rejected by many visa agencies on the grounds that he did not have a labor certificate because he could not provide his daughter's labor certificate.

Blocked from renewing in Cambodia? Minors need to pay attention to these matters when applying for renewal

Mr. Lu and his wife have been doing business in Cambodia and brought their daughter from China to study in Cambodia a few years ago. Recently, seeing that his daughter's visa was about to expire, he sent his daughter's passport to the visa agency for renewal as usual, but he encountered obstacles. Not long ago, the Cambodian Immigration Department issued new rules saying that from October 17, labor certification must be provided for business visa renewal. Since Mr. Lu's daughter was attending school and did not have a labor certification, several visa agencies rejected Mr. Lu's application on the grounds that he did not have a labor certification. One of the agencies told Mr. Lu that if he wanted to renew his daughter's visa, he must first apply for a labor certificate. Mr. Lu immediately asked a local friend to consult the Cambodian Ministry of Labour about applying for a labor certification, but the reply was that his daughter was under the age of 18 and was a minor, so he could not apply for a labor certification for her. Seeing that his daughter's visa was about to expire, Mr. Lu was caught in the dilemma that the Ministry of Labor would not issue a labor certificate to his daughter, and the immigration bureau would not renew the labor certificate if it could not see it. "What can I do about this? You can't be repatriated. Mr. Lu said helplessly.

The renewal application was successfully submitted, and he expressed his gratitude to Pan Asia Life and Le Ma Business Travel

After understanding Mr. Lu's experience, the Pan Asian Life reporter came to the Cambodian General Immigration Bureau for consultation. An official of the General Immigration Bureau told reporters that Mr. Lu's daughter is a minor and does not need to provide a labor certificate when applying for a renewal. "At present, there are two main situations for minors to renew." The official told Pan Asia Life that if the renewed minor is a school student, he can bring his original passport and the certificate of study with an official seal provided by his school to the immigration bureau to renew. "If the renewed minor is living in Cambodia with his or her parents for a long time, he or she needs to provide the labor certificate, employment certificate, company tax certificate, and relationship certificate of one of the parents to apply for visa renewal in accordance with the normal process." The official said.

In addition to carrying relevant certificates, Pan Asia Life reporters learned that minors also need to abide by the relevant laws of Cambodia when applying for visa renewal, and if the visa is overdue, they still need to pay a fine, and the visa fee is paid in accordance with the relevant standards. The official said that foreign nationals who wish to live in Cambodia must abide by the relevant laws of Cambodia, apply for visas through legal channels and always pay attention to the validity of their visas to avoid unnecessary troubles caused by expired visas.

The Pan Asia Life reporter informed Mr. Lu of the relevant information. Before the press release, Mr. Lu called and said that his daughter's visa application and related materials had been submitted to the Cambodian immigration office with the assistance of Lema Business Travel. "My daughter's visa will expire in another day, but fortunately it was successfully submitted." Mr. Lu told reporters that he had experienced a lot of difficulties in renewing his daughter's visa this time, and he was very grateful to Pan Asia Life and Lema Business Travel for helping him successfully submit the renewal application for his daughter.
