Printing belongs to the last link in the system of calligraphy and painting, because it is small, it is generally not valued by painters, and I am the same. However, the history of printing is preceded by calligraphy and painting, and the system is profound, in addition to the different styles of various historical periods and many schools, the big ga has come out one after another, and the printing is as many as the stars, if it is more true, there is no turning back after a lifetime of entering.
In recent years, my calligraphy and painting have made some progress, and naturally there are collectors who occasionally pay attention to the printing, which makes me alert and also notice the importance of the seal.
My print doesn't flow, but it works. The reason is very simple: after all, it is a quasi-ancient credit certificate, and it can be integrated into oneself with reference to ancient seals, as long as it matches the work, it is the most appropriate, and what knife method and printing style are all dogmas.
My understanding of seals, although there are many factions because of its long history, can be summarized into three types of seals: casting, chiseling, and engraving. As long as this law is clarified, it is not difficult to get started with engraving.
The casting seal is the oldest seal, cast in metal, also known as ancient tung, is the most difficult to imitate the seal, I saw the high-style bear zen engraved this seal when I was young, the bookers are Japanese or overseas Chinese, overwhelmed.
Although chiseled printing was born out of a hurry, Qi Baishi pushed this printing style to an unprecedented artistic peak, created a new generation of seals, formed a faction, and had a far-reaching influence.
