The Origin of Children's Day: The Bloody Massacre Triggered by the Assassination of the Gestapo

author:Teacher Huang Na

To say that the origin of "Children's Day" is not a joy, but stems from the massacre caused by the death of a high-ranking Nazi official, Heydrich.

Reinhard Heydrich was the Gestapo boss of the year, the soul of the Nazi Party. Tall, slender, cold, blonde, and very much in line with the appearance traits of the so-called "good race" advocated by Hitler's gang. Moreover, he is highly knowledgeable and intellectual, energetic, highly efficient, fierce in his mission, polite on the surface, and extremely personable and charismatic. In addition to the sports and military pentathlon, can fly fighters to the front line, Heydrich's musical attainment is not low, violin playing is quite professional.

Reinhard Heydrich (7 March 1904 – 4 June 1942)

Thus, he became the ideal model for Nazi racists, when it was said: "When every Nazi looks in the mirror, he wants to see Heydrich."

In September 1941, Heydrich became Deputy Chief of Administration of Moravia and Bohemia in the German-occupied areas of Czechoslovakia. His cunning use of "candy and whip" began to divide the local population. For example, while bloodily suppressing the resistance movement, frantically hunting down Jews, and implementing the frenzied "racial clearance plan", the workers' "eight-hour workday" and paid leave system were actively implemented, and movie tickets were often distributed free of charge.

Of course, this is not because Heydrich really wants to "benefit" the Czech working class, but because Germany is very dependent on the output of the Czech military industry (the Czech industrial base and production capacity are no. 1 in Eastern Europe), and in order to maintain a stable supply of war resources, it is necessary to first buy the hearts and minds of the people, especially the local industrial workers.

Heydrich's set has upset the members of the Czech resistance movement, and if he continues to "operate" like this, it will not be long before a large number of Czechs will be confused by Heydrich's trick, gradually assimilated, and the national independence and resistance movement will be in vain.

Fortunately, Heydrich, the "butcher of Prague", who is bloody and cruel in nature, has always been very careful to maintain his "confident and pro-people" image. He especially likes to travel in open-top cars in public with high profiles, and he does not have any security guards with him, and the roads are never under martial law. As long as you master the rules, it is not too difficult to get close to him.

So, two Czech agents trained by the British, after stepping on the spot many times, threw a grenade at Heydrich's open-top car on the morning of May 27, 1942, and Heydrich was seriously injured, but the wound was not fatal, and after being attacked, he struggled to stand up for the first time, pulled out his gun and pointed it in the direction of the bomb.

However, a week later, Heydrich died of a wound infection because British agents implanted botulinum toxin in the bomb, causing fatal sepsis.

Heydrich's death was exchanged for the Nazis' frenzied revenge on the Czechs.

Members of the Czech Resistance fought fiercely with the Germans for nearly ten hours, except for being killed in battle, that is, committing suicide after running out of ammunition, and the Germans did not catch a single living mouth.

After investigation, the German side found that the location where the two agents landed after parachuting was around the village of Lidice.

So, on June 10, 1942, the SS surrounded the village of Lidice on the pretext that there were villagers covering the Assassins, directly shot and killed all 173 men over the age of 15 in the village, arrested all women and children, and escorted them to the concentration camp. In the end, the vast majority of the village's 104 children were killed in the Gas Chambers of Cemno, Poland.

In the movie "Assassination of the Gestapo", the scene of the "German devil" entering the village

After the massacre that day, the entire village was burned to the ground, and all the buildings, including the church and the cemetery, were bulldozers were bulldozed, completely erasing the village from the map.

In November 1949, in order to commemorate the massacre in the village of Lidice and the children who died in the war around the world, to oppose the abuse and abuse of children, and to guarantee the right to survival, health care, education and custody of children, the International Federation of Democratic Women designated 1 June of each year as International Children's Day.
