In 1991, the superpower Soviet Union collapsed, the Western camp finally won the Cold War, and Yugoslavia, as a member of the red camp, was naturally devastated.
On June 25, 1991, the Yugoslav republics Slovenia and Croatia unilaterally declared their independence, an event that directly triggered a chain reaction ... Yugoslav Serbia and Montenegro strongly opposed.
A clash ensued and the Yugoslav Civil War broke out.
All Croatian and Slovenian stars from the Yugoslav squad also withdrew from the team.
This is nothing, originally the Yugoslav team is a strong force in Europe, and it can still maintain the team's combat strength without a few players.
But behind the Yugoslav war stood the United States and Europe, and they would not give Yugoslavia a chance to enter the world stage.

By the 1998 FIFA World Cup in France, Croatia represented Eastern European teams for the first time after independence from Yugoslavia.

The third place in the World Cup also proves that if UEFA had not banned the Yugoslavs, it would not have been true that the Euro '92 would have gone to anyone.
