Promoting more inclusive global development

author:China Youth Network

"We need to promote more inclusive global development. The common development of all countries is true development. "At the first phase of the 17th G20 Summit, President Xi Jinping delivered an important speech to draw a blueprint and point out the path for promoting more inclusive global development. It is the common aspiration of the international community to meet the challenges of the times, create a development pattern of inclusiveness, balance, coordination and inclusiveness, win-win cooperation and common prosperity, and achieve stronger, greener and healthier global development.

Thought leadership to solve global development problems

Historical development, the prosperity of civilization and the progress of mankind have never been separated from ideological guidance. Since 2013, President Xi Jinping has continuously attended or chaired the G20 Leaders' Summit, providing Chinese solutions and contributing Chinese wisdom to jointly promote strong, sustainable, inclusive and balanced growth of the world economy.

At present, the global economic recovery is difficult, some developing countries have returned to poverty and chaos due to the epidemic, the development gap between the North and the South is widening, the momentum of international development cooperation is insufficient, development issues are increasingly marginalized in the international agenda, and the implementation of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development is difficult. According to a recent report by the United Nations Development Programme, more than 90% of countries have experienced a decline in their HDI scores in 2020 or 2021 due to multiple crises, and more than 40% have declined for two consecutive years, and human development has fallen back to 2016 levels.

"World prosperity and stability cannot be built on the basis that the poor are getting poorer and the rich are getting richer. Every country wants to live well, and modernization is not the prerogative of any country. At the critical moment of the global development cause, President Xi Jinping stressed that promoting more inclusive global development and answering the current problem of global development imbalance meet the concerns and needs of developing countries, help consolidate consensus among all parties, mobilize development resources, point out the direction for international development cooperation to start again, and promote "common recovery and strong recovery".

Kofi Kuaku, a senior researcher at the Center for Africa-China Studies at the University of Johannesburg in South Africa, said that at present, promoting more inclusive global development is crucial for all countries, which is the only way to achieve common prosperity. China has always respected and supported developing countries, including African countries, reflecting its responsibility for the well-being of all mankind.

Keith Bennett, vice chairman of the British 48 Group Club, has long been concerned about China's development, and he highly agrees with China's proposal to "always think of the difficulties of developing countries and take care of their concerns", believing that this will promote global sustainable development.

"President Xi Jinping focuses on the long-term goals and practical needs of global common development and puts forward plans for future global development." Selcuk Choraktoğlu, director of the Asia-Pacific Research Center in Turkey, said that China's call for more inclusive, inclusive and resilient global development is timely and important, providing Chinese wisdom for solving global development problems and promoting the common development of all countries.

China's plan to unite global development synergy

As a multilateral stage that brings together world and regional powers and the main forum for international economic cooperation, the G20 has more daunting challenges to address than ever before. President Xi Jinping profoundly pointed out that countries that are ahead should sincerely help other countries develop and provide more global public goods. If major countries should assume the responsibilities of major countries, they should all contribute to the cause of global development.

Actions speak louder than words. China has submitted 15 projects to the G20 Bali Summit Practical Cooperation Project Database and participated in the other 5 projects, which will be earnestly implemented together with all members. Propose the Partnership for Global Economic Recovery, the International Food Security Cooperation Initiative, and support the African Union's accession to the G20; Together with six partner countries, including Indonesia and Serbia, it launched the "International Cooperation Initiative on Building a Stable and Resilient Industrial Chain and Supply Chain", and advocated the establishment of a global clean energy partnership with many countries... These actions and propositions have made positive contributions to promoting global development and leading global governance, fully demonstrating China's great power sentiment of "striving to leave no country behind".

Patricio Giusto, director of the Argentina-China Research Center, said that developed countries should play a good economic leading role, strengthen policy communication and coordination, pay attention to the problems existing in developing countries, and establish more equal cooperative relations. Over the past few decades, China's economy has flourished and actively helped other developing countries, proving with concrete actions that only by adhering to inclusiveness, inclusiveness and common development can we promote each other and achieve long-term development.

Irwan Vichaya, head of the Small and Medium Enterprise Development Committee of the Indonesian Food and Beverage Association, said that only inclusive development can allow more people to enjoy benefits. At present, the global food security situation is worrying, especially in developing countries. China calls on all parties to strengthen cooperation under the coordination of the United Nations and other multilateral international organizations, and all parties should actively respond to China's initiative to jointly safeguard global food security.

Tan Zheli, a senior researcher at the Mbeki Institute for African Leadership at the University of South Africa, praised China's support for the African Union's accession to the G20. "At a time when the world is encountering adverse currents of protectionism and unilateralism, China advocates conveying a firm position on practicing multilateralism, which will also provide strong support for the development of African countries."

"China's initiative is widely welcomed, and China's plan is steadily advancing." Ronny Lins, director of the Brazilian Center for China Studies, said that as an important member of the G20, China has repeatedly proposed feasible measures to revitalize the world economy on this platform, elaborated long-term measures to improve global governance, and injected stability and positive energy into the turbulent and changing world.

Major countries should take responsibility to promote global development and progress

On November 12, the Global Development Promotion Center was established, which is a new progress in China's implementation of global development initiatives and a new measure to deepen international development cooperation. Since the Global Development Initiative was proposed, China has united with the international community to promote 32 important measures in a down-to-earth manner and achieved important early gains. The global development project library is constantly expanding, and the number of cooperation platforms is increasing. The participants are more diverse, and the interaction between all parties is more frequent.

Resident Coordinator of the United Nations Development System in China Chattera Choi Tak said multilateralism, international cooperation and global solidarity are the only ways for the world to recover from recent setbacks. The United Nations welcomes the Global Development Initiative as a strong response to accelerating the implementation of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Lorenzo Codonio, former chief economist of the Italian Ministry of Economy and Finance, said that the global development initiative has an exemplary role, helps to promote cooperation between countries and international institutions, will effectively improve the current situation of unbalanced development of countries, and has positive significance for alleviating regional conflicts and tensions.

To promote more inclusive global development, China is not only an active advocate, but also a staunch activist. In Madagascar, Africa, the road connecting the capital Antananarivo and the town of Mahazaza was officially opened to traffic, and local farmers no longer have to worry about a large number of eggs being damaged during transportation, which they affectionately call "egg road"; In the Asian Philippines, the commercial promotion of hybrid rice in China covers an area of 226,500 hectares, benefiting a large number of local farmers; in Papua New Guinea, Oceania, the completion of the Chinese-assisted Nga Provincial Hospital project and the operation of a medical and health center with modern facilities and advanced technology have made many years of local dreams come true...

The scenes of mutual benefit and win-win results and the stories of friendly cooperation have become a vivid portrayal of China's promotion of global development and progress. Sebastian Perimoni, a researcher at the Schiller Institute in France, said that the Global Development Initiative is committed to promoting international cooperation in areas where developing countries have urgent needs, which is of positive significance to strengthening global development cooperation.

In the face of changes in the world, times and history, China will continue to work hand in hand with the people of all countries to strengthen development cooperation and share the fruits of development, and constantly gather strong consensus and synergy to promote common development, so as to push global development into a new era and benefit the people of all countries.
