The new Shanghai International Comedy Festival will be held from November 18 to December 31, and will also fly to many cities across the country for the first time to perform special performances at the comedy festival.
This year's Comedy Festival "Happy Feast" section brings together 41 performances and mid-festival performances, a total of 329 performances, 10 Chinese premieres and 7 Shanghai premiere plays, including dramas, mimes, talk shows, children's dramas, acrobatics, cross-talk, etc. Xu Zheng, artistic director of the comedy festival, introduced that after the normalization of epidemic prevention and control, local comedy originals continued to exert force, and a number of original works put their premieres on the stage of the comedy festival. In 2016, "Drama Stage" won the full house as the closing drama of the Shanghai International Comedy Festival. After 5 years, another work of Chen Peisi, chairman of the Art Committee, "Frightening Dreams", made its debut in Shanghai, which was on the opening stage of the Comedy Festival, which was also the first time that Chen Peisi and Chen Dayu father and son performed on the same stage. The closing drama "Baoxingli" (tentative name) is jointly created by Shanghai Wenguang Performing Arts Group and Shanghai Burlesque Troupe, which revolves around the changes of the Baoxingli era.
Comedy gives Haipai a full stage for funny. The Shanghai Burlesque Troupe's urban trilogy "The Emperor Is Not in a Hurry eunuch", "Oh Daddy" and "Lane Tang Li Xiang" have been performed 17 times on the People's Grand Stage, the Shanghai Grand Theatre, and the Tiantou Yifu Stage. The Shanghai People's Burlesque Troupe "The Voice of Shanghai" depicts the faces of all beings of the times. The stage play "The Adventures of the Dirty King" is adapted from the animation of the same name by Shanghai Fine Arts Film Studio. Maggie's year-end drama "Low IQ Crime" is adapted from the novel by well-known author Zijin Chen.
The "Laughing about the Storm" series of activities will organize a meeting and post-performance talks for the crew, Duoyun Academy, Drama Shop, Reader Bookstore, Dayin Jingshe, etc., and invite directors, screenwriters and producers such as Yuan Ye, Wang Danqing and Yu Jie to share the comedy trend at home and abroad.
Xu Zheng will also join hands with Shanghai Wenguang Performing Arts Group to explore a new comedy ecology, with the Lyceum Theatre as the fulcrum, platform aggregation of high-quality and unique comedy content, through online and offline layout, cross-border integration and other ways to radiate comedy shockwaves to city blocks.
This year's comedy festival talk show section was upgraded to a "new wave of comedy", gathering 12 well-known talk shows and improv comedy teams in Shanghai, such as the Magic City Improv Group, Hardcore Comedy, Hahaland, 66 Comedy, and Orange Comedy. The Talk Show National Club League will also be held at Duoyun Academy Drama Shop, and these domestic talk show labels will meet head-on and compete head-on.
The "New Wave of Comedy" will link up with popular punching places such as TX Plaza on Huaihai Road, Asia Tower, Henderson Celebrity Plaza, World Trade Center, Madame Tussauds Wax Museum, Pear Garden on the Sea and other popular punching places in the business district of Huangpu District, combining young comedy and life scenes, and bringing a more life-like and interesting consumer experience through cross-border linkage with tourism and business circles. The public welfare performances of "We Love Acting", Creak Comedy and Laughter Troupe will appear in the new performing arts space and business district of Huangpu District, giving the public the opportunity to immerse themselves in the ocean of comedy and joy.
The comedy festival also radiates the brand to the surrounding areas of Shanghai and major cities across the country, helping the integration of culture and tourism. The magic comedy "Fire Baby Magic Show" cooperated by Shanghai Gentleman Comic Culture will "fly" to Changsha and Chengdu for special performances. As a sub-venue of the Shanghai International Comedy Festival, Chengdu Fengqiuhuang Theater will hold Chengdu Comedy Week in November, staging nearly 10 performances such as drama, talk show, improv comedy and magic comedy.
