In 1994, Oasis became the brightest rising star of the British rock movement with the rapid growth of the newborn calf with its debut album Definitely Maybe. The following year, fans were eagerly awaiting it, and Oasis also released the band's second album.

Without a doubt, "Wonderwall" is the most well-known song in this rock masterpiece. To this day, it is still the favorite of many people, but the creator of this song does not seem to like it very much.

Long Red's Nineties Anthem
Liam Gallagher rarely has a time to be speechless. But in a recent "Rolling Stone" interview, when he learned that his old band Oasis's 1995 hit "Lost Wall" was about to break 100 million plays on Spotify, he was stunned.
"This number is amazing," Gallagher finally squeezed out, as if the number were large enough to take several seconds to react. Then Liam began to mock him as he had always done, about his pro-Gono Noel.
"Everybody knows Knoll likes to do it. As soon as he sat down for an hour and a half, he kept playing with the strings with his fingers. Therefore, he especially likes to use his fingers to people. ”

These jokes aside (a Feature of the Gallagher Brothers), "The Wall" has become a classic that won't fade—a hit from the 1990s that transcends its time and a new benchmark for rock 'n' roll.
25 years ago, "Lost Walls" was released a week after the release of Oasis's second album. According to Alpha Data, the rolling stone's data provider, the song is streamed half a million times a week (750,000 times if audio and video are counted together).
Last year, Rolling Stone's Tim Ingham estimated that The Wall generates $2,650 in copyright fees on Spotify every day, or a million dollars a year.
Ingham also noted that it is also one of only a few last-century songs to make spotify's top two hundred songs in recent years, and that most of the list is new pop, hip-hop and Latin songs.
Everyone loves the wall
"Lost Wall" has been extraordinary since its early release, and it is not just because Oasis broke the norm and changed the band's signature style: a powerful new "British invasion".
The love and support shown in this song for those struggling in pain is very different from the arrogance of the band's previous songs. It's an honest song with a nice melody and a simple arrangement like street music, all of which makes Oasis and Liam sound softer.
Oasis
From the beginning, it was a timeless classic – it had been covered about once, and the fact that it was enough to prove it. The one-way group once sang it by the sea, and the cover version of Ryan Adams and Cat Power is rustic but full of mixed emotions.
Paul Anka adapted it into a chamber music composition for a big band. LeAnn Rimes interpreted it as a country pop lyric. Pianist Brad Mehldau turned it into a jazz piece.
"'The Wall of Puzzles' has always touched me," Remus said, "and in the nineties, I was still in my teenage years, and this song was very much in line with my state of mind at the time." ”
Brian Monaco, president and chief marketing officer of Sony/ATV Music, has been managing the song since 1994, recalling how it felt to hear "The Wall" for the first time: "Oasis was the hottest rock song at the time, and I thought "it was pretty interesting."
The song highlights Liam's vocals rather than the instrumental part, and the emotional expression is also straightforward.
Monaco says "The Wall" is one of their company's most valuable songs — the list also includes works by the Beatles, Bob Dylan, Carol King, Steve Wanda, Queen, Ed Sheeran and Lady Gaga.
Over the years, the Gallagher brothers loved and hated The Wall. Last year, after Noyo and The Pumpkin Band toured together, he revealed his enduring shock to the British magazine The Face: "Two Goths of Arkansa, one in Rancid and one in Kiss, shoulder to shoulder with each other, singing 'Lost Wall'.
It's not something you see every day. He said they didn't react to the other songs we performed. What's so magical about that song? This is crazy. ”
Liam agreed with his brother about this time, "I don't know anything about Spotify and those things. "All I can say is that people love the song." There are also people who hate it. I'm not trying to compare it to Imagine. But a lot of people will also say, 'Imagine,' fuck it. Some people think it's one of the best songs. ”

The mystery of the wall
Another debatable aspect of "The Wall" is the inspiration for this song. Given that the song was written during the cohabitation of Noord's future wife, nightclub fan Meg Matthews, many believe the song was written for her.
Perhaps because the couple broke up in 2000, Nozomi denied the claim: "The meaning of this song has been misinterpreted by the media who want to attract attention." If your girlfriend knew from the media that the song was written for her, how could you tell her it wasn't about her? It's a song about a hypothetical friend who will come and save you. ”
Liam acknowledged the song's title as a tribute to George Harrison's 1968 experimental album Wonderwall Music. Liam and his brother used to scribble on the bedroom wall as children, and he felt that the song was Noel's memorial to that time. “
But for Knoll, it's clear that it doesn't make sense enough. He said, "So he decided to say it was a song about a girl. ”
Noor has a cylinder and ex-wife Meg Matthews
Katrina Russell, an old friend of Matthews, still remembers the first time she heard the song. Russell was at noyo and Matthews' home in London's Condon, and Matthews excitedly told her that her boyfriend had written a new song and that Russell needed to listen to it.
"I said, 'Well, what song?' She replied, 'It's written for me.' Russell recalled. Then Noel showed up and played The Wall on the guitar to them. "I was stunned."
Russell recalled, "I thought, 'What is a wall?' I asked Meg and she said, 'Don't ask. But it's the most beautiful song I've ever heard in my life. Write such a beautiful song for a loved one – I'm a little jealous because it's not a song written for me. ”
In May 1995, when the Oasis members reunited at the famous Rockfield Studios in Wales to record their second album, Knoll played the song to his brother.
Liam wasn't shocked at all, At first I didn't like the song, Liam said, What the is this song? I said 'I don't like it – it's a bit of a funk. I think it's like a Polce song, a little bit stinging. I like the more focused stuff. I said 'this song is not for me, brother. ’”
In the end, the Gallagher brothers decided that the two of them would each choose a lead vocal from "The Wall" and "Don't Look Back in Anger." Although Liam didn't like "The Wall" at first, he chose it.
"I could have sung it in two capitals," he said, "but he had to sing one." I'm the lead singer of the band, and the lead vocals are my business. When I started singing this song, I realized it was a really good song. ”
The Galagar brothers' complex feelings about "The Lost Wall" are like the relationship between the two, constantly cutting and rationalizing. Love or hate, they all have to admit that the song has transcended the oasis itself, the oasis has disbanded, and "The Wall" is still there.
In the next issue, we will continue to reveal the creative process of "Lost Wall" and the glory of this song at that time.
