This year's X-Men series of movies will usher in a climax and an end, bringing audiences bigger scenes, more twists and turns, and more complex emotions. Yesterday afternoon, X-Men: Dark Phoenix held a press conference in Beijing, and director Simon Ginberg appeared with ivan Peters, Tye Sheridan, Sophie Turner, James McAvoy, and Michael Fassbinder.
The X-Men is a superhero IP originally created in the 1960s. In 2000, the first "X-Men" was released, and the X-Men Cinematic Universe officially opened. This series of movies abandons the traditional superhero film battle routine of good and evil, in the mutant world, there is no absolute distinction between good and evil, and everyone has a complex and real personality.
In the final chapter of the series, the X-Men suddenly suffered a major change when they first entered space to carry out a mission, and the team's important combat force, Qin Grey, was accidentally possessed by the power of the phoenix and gradually "blackened". As Chin's loss of control, faced with the difficult choice of "destroying Dark Phoenix" or "saving Chin Grey", the X-Men fell apart and split. In order to fight against this former best friend and the strongest mutant in the universe, they had to do their best to meet this war without a winner.
Simon Ginberg has written screenplays for several previous X-Men films, but is directing for the first time. He confessed that he had watched a lot of X-Men comics since he was a child, and he liked the story of Dark Phoenix very much, and he did not expect that one day he could be its film director.
The film was also the first time in the entire series that a female X-Men was the protagonist. Simon Ginberg believes that such a setting is very meaningful today. In his opinion, the film is a story about family reunion: "These originally strange X-Men formed a family together, and Dark Phoenix caused the family to fall apart, but in the end the family members still wanted to be able to get together." He hopes that the film will leave the perfect ending for the story of 19 years ago.
The role of Sansa in the American drama "Game of Thrones" made Sophie Turner a familiar actor for Chinese audiences, and in "X-Men: Dark Phoenix", her role as Black Phoenix Qin Grey became the focus of contradictions in the whole film. Chin Grey has two different personalities: one is a righteous warrior who wants to save the world, and the other wants to destroy the world. Sophie Turner said that Dark Phoenix faces a lot of struggles in the film, and her mental journey is just the opposite of Sansa's, the latter is becoming more and more confident, and the former is moving from a stable state to a chaotic state. Sophie Turner said bluntly that she hopes that the audience can forget the Sansa she played before, and also hopes to try more different roles in the future.
Talking about the "love and killing" between Professor X, the founder of the X-Men team, and the arch-villain Magneto, Professor X actor James McAvoy said that the two care for each other in the film, and will support each other when there is danger, and he feels that they have achieved each other. Michael Fassbinder, the actor of Magneto, said that Professor X has always been a friend of Magneto, and although they have different ideas, they will definitely appear for each other in times of crisis.
The film will be released nationwide on June 6.
