Released on November 20, in just three days, the action film "Riot Elimination" starring Wu Yanzu and Wang Qianyuan easily broke through 200 million at the box office, becoming the highest-grossing action film in 2020 so far, and a well-deserved box office hit.

The story is set in the 1990s, when guns were at their most rampant and social security was in turmoil. Wu Yanzu plays Zhang Falcon, the leader of the Eagle Gang of the Hun Bandit Group, and Wang Qianyuan plays the policeman Zhong Cheng.
The Eagle Gang criminals are extremely cruel, repeatedly robbing, killing people in the street, and even killing policemen, so they are regarded by the police as a vicious force that must be defeated.
With Zhong Cheng leading the criminal police squad to hunt down the Eagle Gang as the starting point, the story unfolds, opening a cat-and-mouse hunt and counterattack.
The biggest attraction of the film is the wonderful action scene.
At the beginning of the chapter, someone was headshot, and the blood plasma startled the audience to hold their breath. After that, there are robbers shooting in the street, and the cruel plot of people fleeing in a hurry in the chaos, but still being shot through to death, the sense of blood and excitement comes out at once.
In the process of Zhong Cheng's pursuit of criminals led by Zhang Falcon, wonderful gunfight scenes were one after another. Near the end, the picture of Zhong Cheng and Zhang Falcon fighting in close combat around a bath towel is even more topical, both the cool feeling of fist to flesh, and the hormone explosion scene that the audience is happy to see, which can be described as killing two birds with one stone.
Because of the wonderful performances of starring Wu Yanzu and Wang Qianyuan, and the burning explosion of action scenes, the box office of "Crackdown" easily exceeded 100 million.
But this does not mean that this is a masterpiece, and "Crackdown", which has been praised by the media as "the best action film of 2020", has at least 3 major shortcomings, which seriously affect the viewing experience.
<h1 class= "pgc-h-arrow-right" >1, the plot is improperly divided</h1>
The first half hour of "Crackdown" is very exciting, the action scenes are eye-catching, and the sense of confrontation between the police and the gangsters is also very well shaped, the former is for justice, the latter is for interests, and the point of conflict in the drama is very clear.
But half an hour later, the plot suddenly becomes pulled down: first the female character Wen Juan (ChunXia), and zhang falcon's emotional drama take up a lot of space; then begin to "main theme description", using a large number of shots to describe the bond between the police and friends and family in their daily lives, and make emotional renderings for the sacrifices that follow.
The emergence of this emotional line is necessary, the problem is that "Riot Elimination" spends too much time on these plots, directly weakening the police sense of the police and bandits against this main line, and is too noisy.
<h1 class= "pgc-h-arrow-right" >2, the story lacks logic</h1>
In the first half of the story, the direct cat and mouse game between the police Zhong Cheng and the gangster Zhang Falcon is very exciting, and both sides know each other's routines, especially Zhang Falcon's reasoning that the police will come to the noodle restaurant to eat noodles and then pay for the police, crazy and provocative, quite a sense of mastery.
Unfortunately, the film was improperly edited and the logic was confused, in order to arrest Zhang Falcon in the second half hour, the police headed by Zhong Cheng opened their gold fingers, and Zhang Falcon's IQ suddenly decreased, and he was suddenly caught by Zhong Cheng, thus exposing his whereabouts.
How wonderful the first half of the master's moves are, how disappointing the arrest in the second half is, and many key plots are not explained clearly, and people can see it in the clouds.
Why did the police conclude that the Eagle Gang was the initiator of multiple crimes, and what was the connection between these cases? The film is not detailed.
In order to highlight the heroism of the police represented by Zhong Cheng, in the second half of the hour, He Zhongcheng accurately located the location of the bandits and quickly dismantled the digital code at the most critical moment. The sense of heroism is there, and at the same time, the protagonist's aura has also become larger, resulting in the story losing a lot of authenticity and sense of substitution.
<h1 class= "pgc-h-arrow-right" >3, some of the characters are too flat</h1>
The image of Zhang Falcon's gangster in "Crackdown" is very three-dimensional, crazy and bloodthirsty when committing crimes, but in the face of relatives and lovers, it will instantly become gentle and considerate. In order to play the image of Zhang Falcon, Wu Yanzu directly contributed the ugliest shape ever in the film, from the image to the personality are huge contrasts, so that the audience can truly feel the vividness of this character.
In contrast, the role of Zhong Cheng is flat, filming the scene of Zhong Cheng and his family getting along warmly, but does not show any miss of Zhong Cheng's family: every time he goes out on a mission, he is rushing to the first, without fear of sacrifice. I can understand the original intention of the film to praise the police as a group, but this method of expression is really undesirable, and even counterproductive to make the audience feel that such sacrifice chicken soup is too strong.
In addition, the female figure Wen Juan mentioned above, the film's portrayal of this image is also very unreasonable. Inexplicably in love with Zhang Falcon, inexplicably wanted to commit suicide after conceiving Zhang Falcon's child. Only shaping the madness of this character, without telling the audience the reason for the character's madness, I really can't understand it.
In terms of the wonderful action scenes in the film and the interesting parallel editing methods when confronting the police and bandits, "Riot Elimination" is an excellent commercial action film, which is worth going into the cinema to feel the charm from fist to flesh and two actors' hormones.
However, from the perspective of story logic and character shaping, the score of "Riot Elimination" is actually difficult to pass. Douban's 6.5 points are largely stained with the light of Wu Yanzu and Wang Qianyuan, and it is a pity that the food is tasteless and abandoned.
