The film "Chasing the Tiger and Catching the Dragon" just makes up for his regrets, telling the story of two investigators fighting with the head of the drug lord Wu Shihao and the chief inspector of the general Hua, Xu Le, at the beginning of the establishment of the ICAC of the Independent Commission Against Corruption in Hong Kong. After all, it was the inspector general, and there were too many people under his command to take care of him. The lard boy played by Zheng Zeshi again in the movie shows us a complete set of procedures of "unified collection of money, unified payment of money, black and white, and smooth sailing".

But unfortunately, the point is that it was not found very successfully. If it were not for the gimmicks of the four movie emperors, it is estimated that many people would have fallen asleep in the first half. There is no problem with the literary drama itself, but the extras playing the drama makes it difficult for us to integrate into that era. And this film has no action director, several leading actors are not from action dramas, resulting in the middle of Lin Jiadong's sacrifice, the gunfight scene that killed Zheng Zeshi at the airport, are extremely poor.
The three forces of the police, the underworld, and the ICAC in the movie do not form a stable triangle. On the contrary, before the advent of ICAC, it seemed to be more orderly. Just as Leung Ka-fai thinks when he stands on the dock at the end of the film, the loneliness of the times may be the arrival of true peace.
The film originally looked at this history from a higher position, using various elements such as order, era, stability, and anti-corruption to retelle the story, but it still failed to run out of its own vision and did not escape the gap of fried cold rice.
So as far as the movie story itself is concerned, everyone does not need to report too high expectations. Otherwise, it is very likely that you will be disappointed, but the acting skills of several leading actors are good, and it is still worth watching!
