In July this year, the 16th Shanghai International Youth Interactive Friendship Camp sponsored by the Municipal Friendship Association and the Municipal Youth Federation was successfully held, and for the first time, Chinese and foreign campers were arranged to visit Yan'an, the holy land of the Chinese revolution. As one of the organizers of the event, the author gained a deeper understanding and understanding of further international communication work through field visits during his field visits in Yan'an.
To use the most popular saying now, the focus of communication is IP (Internet buzzword, that is, content that can break free from the shackles of a single platform and obtain traffic on multiple platforms by relying on its own attractiveness) is not hard enough, a good IP can not only catch people's attention and make people desirable, but its strong influence and appeal can be spread across national borders for a long time.
This interactive camp went to Yan'an, and the author further realized that our party has a large number of, very distinctive and high-quality IP. Throughout the history of our Party, good content has emerged one after another. As far as Chairman Mao Zedong's legendary experience is concerned, I believe that in the whole history of the world, there are only a few great people who can have such an experience, and his story is legendary enough and wonderful enough. However, in the West, the stories of Napoleon and Washington are well known, but not many are familiar with Chairman Mao's stories.
Not only Chairman Mao Zedong, but those names that sparkle in the history of the party are all good IP stories, like the story of Marshal Peng Dehuai of Chairman Mao's "horizontal knife and immediate", from the Pingjiang Uprising to the treatment of Hu Zongnan in Yan'an, to the command of the First Field Army to swing the Great Northwest, to the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, purely on military achievements, compared with the recognized military figure Napoleon. Including the story of a foreign friend in Yan'an, Edgar Snow's experience is not much worse than the fictional "Forrest Gump" in my opinion.
In addition, in addition to the characters, the story of the people's army also has the potential to become an IP. From the Nanchang Uprising to the Long March to the Great Armageddon, as well as the construction of our army's unique base areas, the construction of branches on the company, and the water conditions of the military and the people, all have extremely high international communication value. In order to show humanistic care, the US military has specially fictionalized the story of "saving Private Ryan", and our military has done far better than the US military in this regard, the story of Nanniwan, the feats of flood relief and disaster relief, and the deeds of overseas escorts, which do not require any packaging or polishing, which is a good material for international propaganda.
Speaking of international communication, according to the author's observation, over the years, the West has formed a mature system, such as Hollywood, the BBC, CNN and Facebook, etc., through their respective resources and platforms, using very mature communication techniques and techniques, or explicitly or covertly instilling values, the more typical examples are "Saving Private Ryan" and "Transformers", one of which boasts that the US military is very human, and the other describes the US military as an invincible force that can defeat aliens. Subtly shaping the impression of American loftiness. At the same time, the West has been carrying out political propaganda in the name of press freedom, advocating their so-called "institutional superiority" and attacking many countries, including China, which are different from their ideologies and systems.
For a long time, China's foreign dissemination has taken economic and social development, reform and opening up, and so on as the main content, but from its founding to the present, our party has led the Chinese people to overthrow the three mountains and realized the realization of the world's remarkable achievements and earth-shaking changes that have attracted worldwide attention and are inseparable from the leadership of our party and the purpose of our party to serve the people wholeheartedly. The West can trumpet their not-so-well-established political system and values, and our Party's path has both theoretical basis and factual support, as well as wonderful stories, and can be spread more confidently.
In the post-epidemic era, the interactive camp activities that went out of Shanghai to the holy land of revolution were very successful, especially in terms of external communication, which has achieved very good results, in the author's opinion, there are mainly the following reasons: First, active transmission. On the one hand, through on-the-spot visits to revolutionary sites and museums, foreign teenagers personally experienced the history of the Chinese revolution, the history of the Communist Party and the contributions of foreign friends to the Chinese revolution, on the other hand, it was also disseminated through various forms on Chinese and foreign platforms, and achieved good results; second, innovative communication. By holding the "Yan'an in My Eyes" video contest, campers are encouraged to personally produce short videos, record their experiences in Yan'an and share them with friends and relatives in real time, which greatly enhances the appeal of transmission.
General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out that it is necessary to "tell the Chinese story well, spread the Chinese voice, show the real, three-dimensional and comprehensive China, and strengthen the international communication capacity building of our country." The author believes that in order to show the real, three-dimensional and comprehensive China, it is extremely important to continuously explore and make good use of IP, and at the same time pay attention to the use of a discourse system that is easy for foreigners to accept, to tell the Chinese story from a small point to the ground, and to do a good job in international communication.
