Internet of Things Remote Monitoring UAV High Altitude Reconnaissance Yangzhou Forest Tree "Summer Worm Battle"

Remote monitoring of forest insect pests

Summer is the season of high incidence of forest pests, especially pests and diseases. Five monitoring and reporting points of the national center for forestry pests in Yangzhou are upgrading their monitoring and reporting systems. The upgraded monitoring and reporting point will form an efficient "forest protection sky net", which can monitor the "insect situation" remotely, and can also use the UAV to detect the high-altitude "insect situation" and more accurately prevent and control forestry pests.

Skynet upgrade

Real-time monitoring of insects can be carried out in the office

In Yangzhou, there are 5 national-level forestry pest monitoring and reporting points, and each central monitoring and reporting point has multiple small monitoring and reporting points. In the past, the monitoring of each small monitoring and reporting point required forestry epidemic prevention personnel to check the records one by one, which took a lot of time.

"But pests and diseases do not wait for anyone." Wang Min, director of the Forestry Pest Quarantine Prevention and Control and Wetland Protection and Management Station in Hanjiang District, said that in the summer high temperature season, the time of major outbreaks of pests and diseases is often calculated in days, "Today may be fine, tomorrow the leaves on the trees may all be eaten." ”

The upgraded "Forest Ranger Skynet" can quickly detect and report insect conditions in a timely manner and give early warning. Wang Min said that the biggest advantage of this "forest ranger skynet" is that it can remotely monitor the insect situation in real time.

"At the monitoring and reporting points, there are Internet of Things devices such as ecological monitoring, microclimates, insect monitoring lights, and traps, and the information collected by these Internet of Things devices such as videos, pictures and texts can be transmitted to the remote office system in real time." Wang Min said that as long as the forest defense personnel are in the office, they can view the diseases and insect pests on the forest trees in real time, count the adult pests trapped in the insect situation monitoring and reporting lamp, and combine the analysis of microclimate information to accurately detect and report the "insect situation" in a certain area, timely early warning, and timely prevention and control.

UAV "reconnaissance" high-altitude "insect situation"

A large part of the monitoring and reporting of forestry diseases and insect pests in Yangzhou is aimed at poplar trees, "there are many poplar trees, there are many forests, and it is easy to occur diseases and insect pests." ”

Due to the tall body of the poplar tree, and the video of the ecological monitoring of the monitoring point, the height is not enough. In order to more accurately monitor the overall picture of the poplar forest, the "forest ranger sky net" upgrade also used a drone.

"Drones can 'detect' high-altitude insects." Wang Min introduced that in order to obtain high-definition videos and pictures, they customized drones with high-definition lenses. To deal with high-altitude "insect situation", you can use a high-range sprayer to spray defense, or you can use a drone to fly defense. For example, the Hanjiang District Forest Defense Station is equipped with a vehicle-mounted high-range sprayer, which has a spray width of 50 meters and a height of up to 35 meters, which is currently the farthest and highest pest control "artifact" in Yangzhou, and is a weapon to ensure that serious pest disasters do not occur in key areas such as highways, with long spraying time, high operation efficiency, large prevention and control range, wide coverage, drug province, and small pollution.

Focus on prevention

Yangzhou mainly monitors these two moths in summer

In general, the main monitoring diseases and insect pests of Yangzhou trees are boat moths and American white moths. Some areas should monitor a little more objects, such as Yizheng area also to monitor the Songmo Tianniu, because this Tianniu is an intermediate agent of pine wood nematode disease (pine wood nematode disease, mainly harmful to black pine, masson pine, etc., once the tree is infected with this disease, there is no cure).

The boat moth is a traditional pest of poplar trees. Wang Min said that this pest, especially likes to continue high temperature and drought weather, "under suitable conditions, sometimes it only takes a week to have a big outbreak." ”

But the boat moth is also afraid of heavy rain, "such as a rainstorm a few days ago, we punched the remote system, and found that after the rain, the adult boat moth in the insect information detection lamp was gone." ”

The American white moth, commonly known as the autumn caterpillar, is an international quarantine pest, and is also the only pest (invasive alien pest) that is listed as quarantine by the competent departments of agriculture and forestry in China at the same time, and its living habits, under certain meteorological conditions, are similar to the boat moth; but under certain meteorological conditions, it is the opposite of the boat moth, "for example, when the high temperature exceeds a certain temperature, it stagnates." ”

In addition, the common "foreign spicy seeds" in our lives, the scientific name is the thorn moth, also known as the hot potato, which will sting people and is a pest that people are afraid of. However, Wang Min said that its living habits are often the opposite of the boat moth, usually, when the boat moth occurs lighter, the thorn moth occurs heavier, "but overall, the occurrence of the thorn moth outbreak is not common, which is why people are afraid of it but do not take it as a key prevention and control object in forestry." ”
