I believe that many aquarists have been troubled by the problem of koi parasites, and today we will popularize the relevant knowledge.

Ringworm disease

Main symptoms of koi infection with ringworm:

1. Swim slowly, float on the surface of the water, occasionally dive, often rub scales;

2. Open the gill cover to find that the gill filament is white;

3. The water temperature rises to about 25 degrees, which is easy to get sick and easy to infect other fish.

Precautions:

1, eliminate the source of infection, koi do not mix the fish carrying the worm into the pool;

2. Maintain sufficient dissolved oxygen in water quality, so that the water body shows a dynamic flow state;

3. Keep the water quality clean, often add probiotics to the water body, and thoroughly decompose the residual bait feces.

Therapeutic measures:

Add 30 grams of salt and 6 grams of ferrous sulfate per ton (cubic) of water, and after 2 hours, add 5-10 ppm (1 ton of water plus 5 grams) of mebendazole, change the water after one day, and re-operate according to this method the next day to treat ring worms. If it is a large water surface, an acre of water surface is 10 kg of salt, 2 kg of ferrous sulfate.

Anchor-headed flea disease

symptoms:

The sick fish is restless, the appetite is reduced, the fish is emaciated, the swimming is slow, and the female worm burrows into the host muscle, causing damage to the muscle tissue, inflammation, and ulceration. When there is a large number of insect parasitism in the mouth of koi, the mouth will be able to close and die because it cannot be eaten.

Source:

Anchor head flea. Anchor-headed fleas are larger and can be seen with the naked eye, and are prone to parasitism in the abdomen or the roots of the fins of koi, and the scales of the parasitic parts of the anchor-headed flea will stand firm or red, so it is easy to distinguish. When the water temperature is low, the anchorhead fleas will dive under the fish scales for the winter, and when the water temperature reaches about 15 ° C, it begins to breed. Therefore, spring and autumn are the breeding periods of anchor-headed fleas.

Treatment:

The worm body can be directly pulled out with forceps, the parasitic site is smeared with red potion, and then placed in another clean fish basin and soaked in 0.2 ppm of dichlorvos solution or 3% table salt for about 30 minutes.

Fish lice disease

Koi infected with fish lice are restless, struggling, swimming sharply or rubbing the bottom, trying to get rid of the insect body, the body will secrete a large amount of mucus, loss of appetite, the part of the bite and the abrasion of the fish itself can cause infection and water mold.

Fish lice. Fish lice are large, up to 4 to 5 mm, can be seen with the naked eye, like to parasitize large fish, is the most susceptible to koi parasitic diseases.

treat:

After removing the parasites from the koi with forceps, put them in another clean fish bowl and soak them in 0.2 ppm of dimeter solution for about 30 minutes.

Wheelworm disease

The sick fish make the action of wiping the bottom and retracting the fins. After being invaded by pathogens, koi carp like to swim on the surface of water or on the edge of the pool, and their bodies are thin and dark.

Source and cause of infection:

Caused by wheelworms. It mainly destroys the gill tissue, affects the breathing of the fish, and makes the fish deadly. Sometimes its ring-shaped hook is also used to burrow deep into the mucosal layer of the fish skin from the thickening of the skin caused by infections of other causes.

Place the koi in another container and soak with 2% table salt solution for 10 min, once a day.

Put the koi into another container and bathe the sick fish with a 0.2ppm solution of insect repellent for about 1 hour, the first once a day.
