The yellow-breasted bunting is distributed and propagated in Siberia and northeast China, and overwinters in southern China and Southeast Asia. It inhabits large areas of rice paddies, reed fields, tall grasses or moist thorny bushes, forming large groups in winter and often mixing with other species. Feeds on insects, plant seeds, etc. It is a medium-sized, brightly colored bunting with a body length of about 15 cm. The iris is dark chestnut brown, the upper mouth is gray, the lower mouth is pink brown, and the feet are light brown.
The yellow-breasted bunting breeds from May to July, nesting in the grass, laying 4-5 eggs per nest and hatching for 12-15 days.
