According to intellectuals at the Weibo Science popularization V@, porcelain crabs are a highly diverse class of marine crustaceans with the shape between crabs and lobsters. Because of its beautiful shell, more and more people in the country have raised it as an ornamental animal in the past two years.
Scientists recently announced that two new kinds of porcelain crabs have been discovered. Among them, the porcelain crab named Polyonyx socialis lives in the South China Sea, and the other called Petrolisthes tonsorius lives in the intertidal zone of Colombia in the Caribbean.
Most porcelain crabs live in shallow waters and live in symbiosis with some invertebrates such as sponges, sea anemones, sea urchins, and so on. The habitat of porcelain crabs is often vulnerable to climate change, ocean acidification and pollution.
