The current situation in Kosovo is becoming more and more deteriorating, and the US-led NATO is ready to attack Serbia after deliberately provoking the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. After all, after the outbreak of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, Serbia has not joined the sanctions against Russia, and has been maintaining cooperative relations with China and Russia, which seems to have touched the bottom line of Western countries.
The demand by the Kosovo authorities for Serb residents to change their license plates was clearly a provocation and was also resisted by local Serbs. Recently, Serbian President Vučić announced that their whole country has entered a state of combat readiness.
Serbia entered a state of combat readiness, which NATO expected
As the situation in the Balkans became more complex, the Serbian government, in order to protect its national sovereignty, clearly declared that it would enter a nationwide state of combat readiness. Serbia's defense minister claimed in an interview with the media that they were not ready for war and were willing to continue dialogue with local authorities in Kosovo to resolve the contradictions between the two sides.
But history has taught Serbia that they must be fully prepared for a possible war, and there is no guarantee that NATO will launch a surprise attack on them. NATO responded quickly because they did not expect the situation to escalate so quickly.
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg called Serbian President Vučić in the hope that the situation in the region would not continue to escalate, while he also asked Serbia to stop any unilateral actions that could undermine the peace. Vučić's response was that Kosovo's demand for Serb residents to change their license plates was a unilateral violation of the Brussels Agreement.
Any action by Serbia is aimed at protecting its national interests and territorial sovereignty, after all, it is clearly stated in the Brussels Agreement that the international community does not recognize Kosovo's independence, and Kosovo has a high degree of autonomy, but it is also Serbian territory.
The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs has made it clear that we hope that all parties can engage in sincere dialogue
Regarding the rapid deterioration of the situation in Kosovo, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian also made a clear response at a regular press conference. We hope that the parties concerned can deal with the issue within the framework of the relevant agreements of the UN Security Council and reach a possible political solution through sincere dialogue.
But Serbia's national sovereignty and territorial integrity must be respected, and the Brussels Agreement must be implemented. The question of Kosovo is a historic issue with a long history, and its occurrence is inextricably linked to NATO.
NATO should not continue to think out of a Cold War mentality, and their idea of camp confrontation is now outdated. In the context of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, their request for Serbia to choose a side is not in line with international principles and will only undermine peace.
