Poster for the movie Spider-Man Expedition

The movie "Spider-Man Hero Expedition" is being screened. The author is not interested in American superhero movies, but people can conquer the global audience, naturally there are extraordinary, there is no need to elaborate here, just to find a topic for the "narrative notes", talk about the spiders in the notes of the Ming and Qing dynasties.

In today's opinion, spiders are ugly in appearance and unpredictable in behavior, and are probably an abomination in the eyes of the ancients. Not really. For example, the well-known "five poisons" are centipedes, poisonous snakes, scorpions, geckos and toads, but spiders are not listed, but not only that, the appearance of spiders in ancient notes is really very complicated.

1. Monsters: Destroying people's chastity is struck by lightning

The appearance of the spider is indeed somewhat alien, which leads to the fact that human beings, who have always regarded themselves as the aesthetic standard, cannot not have the impression of "monsters" on it. Because of this, the spider in the ancient notes, the first face is a monster.

"Winged Barnyard Edition"

The Qing Dynasty scholar Tang Yongzhong wrote about the affairs of Qingyuan County in Zhejiang In the "Compilation of Wing Dumplings". Qingyuan is located in a mountainous area, "the county office was built in San'in, and the shadow of the sun is rare all year round." The local living habit is also to turn off the lights as soon as it is dark, and the family locks the door, "otherwise the poisonous insects and beasts will come to the fire and come to kill people." One night, because of an urgent business, the county ordered Sun Mou to rule the paperwork by candle, and it was not finished until the early morning, and when he wanted to go back to the bedroom to sleep, he found that the door could not be pushed open. Looking out from the crack in the door, it turned out to be a huge spider with a "diameter of more than a foot" and a web "as thick as a rope" on the door. Sun Xianling was frightened and scattered, and quickly called for someone to come to his rescue. "The torch burned", and the giant spider avoided it.

As can be seen from ancient notes, Zhejiang seems to be "rich" with giant spiders. "Qing Barnyard Banknotes" records the Lujiang Incident, and there is a camphor tree next to the local Jingo Temple, which is verdant and verdant, and is three or four hundred years old. There is a large hole under the root of the tree, called "spider nest", according to legend, during the Qianlong period, "there were big spiders everywhere, three inches or so, weaving webs one or two zhang, the big ones according to them, the small ones around the edges, there are hundreds", the thought is chilling. There is also Ningbo, there is also a record of large spiders, see Wang Li's "Autumn Lantern Cong": there is a local surnamed Wang, there is a millet hoard in the family, suddenly came a bowl of giant spiders, cloth on it, from then on every night corn will overflow on the basis of the original a lot, the daily test is not happy. Seeing that this spider turned his granary into a cornucopia, Wang Mou was overjoyed, and some relatives and friends advised him: "Since the ancient giant spider is easy to be struck by lightning, are you not afraid of causing trouble?" Or hurry up and drive it away! Wang Mou also muttered in his heart, so he grabbed the spider and put it in the wild, who knew that the giant spider turned back to the granary of his home that night and continued to weave its web, and the corn also continued to overflow continuously. Wang Mou also "lived" by it, and from then on the family road became more and more abundant, until one morning, the spider suddenly said goodbye, and the family business slowly turned from prosperity to decline.

The words exhorted by Wang's relatives and friends are not unreasonable. In the ancient notes, all kinds of insects, including the "five poisons", once they became monsters, were harmful to the human world, and what awaited them was often struck by lightning. Let's talk about spiders, Li Qingchen wrote "Drunken Tea Zhi Monster" in Tang Yin a daughter, sitting in the court at night, saw a fireball falling from the eaves, tossing and turning, swirling a beautiful teenager standing in the court, face like fat jade, handsome, laughing at the woman. The woman then had an affair with this beautiful young man. The two people have been meeting like this for a long time, and the secret is not told. One night, the young man said to the woman: "I made good friends with Qing, I didn't expect to commit a crime, I really don't hide it, I am a spider spirit, tomorrow at noon there will be heavy rain and lightning, there will be a big spider lying on your window, that is me, if you don't forget the old good, be sure to prepare a drowning device, throw it into the sky when thundering, you can save my life and avoid disaster." "The words are over. The woman was a little frightened, so she told her mother what had happened. The mother deeply resented the spider spirit for taking away her daughter's virginity, so she hid the urinal toilet and everything in the house. At noon the next day, "the thunderstorm was so great that there were spiders like a plate, falling from the empty window ledge, like a wooden chicken, and did not dare to move less." The woman hurried to find the drowning device, and could not find it for half a day, when a thunderbolt in the sky chopped the spider to death, and the sky was clear.

Second, the old man: The six dragons have not lost

Although Zhejiang is "rich" with giant spiders, in ancient China, the most famous giant spiders are not "Haizhou giant spiders".

Ancient Haizhou is now lianyungang area of Jiangsu Province, this place is surrounded by mountains and seas, beautiful scenery, so it has become a "filming place" for many ancient myths and legends, such as "Journey to the West", many Immortal Mountains and Blessings can find "prototypes" or "provenances" here. Haizhou has been said to have four monsters since ancient times, and Xu Feng'en wrote in the "Li Cheng": "A snake, a spider, a centipede, and an ant." "The pangolin is a pangolin, this one in Haizhou is half of the zhang", the centipede is also long, has wings, can fly, the ant is not only large, but also the hip is like iron, the knife and gun can not enter. "The spider is particularly supernatural among the four, as large as a basket and as thick as a child's arm."

Ear Food Record

"The four monsters often take the form of a human being, travel to the city, and do not cause human disasters." Among them, the giant spider likes to mess around in the human world the most. It "takes the form of an old man every time he comes out, with white hair hanging down his chest, full of morality, and he likes to play with children the most." The old man often bought some pear and date cake bait and distributed it to the children who played with him, and after a long time, everyone knew his origin and called him a "Zhu Dao person". Le Jun recorded in the "Ear Food Record" that the exact residential address of this giant spider was on The Mal Mountain outside Haizhou City, "also going to and from Yuntai, Yilu, and Da Yi Zhushan". It often swims in the sea, teases ships, or lifts off from the water, and then smashes into the sea, "and the instrument in the ship is slightly unshakeable, and people are accustomed to it, not shocked." There was a foreigner surnamed Wu who came to Haizhou to do business, and saw "a dark obstacle in the woods at night, and the light can be learned", he was very curious, wanted to get closer to watch, suddenly forced a gust of wind and sand, hurriedly fell to the ground, but smelled the sudden wind and hail, floated by, and suddenly felt a trance. After getting up, the light in the woods had disappeared, and his own face had turned blue, and he washed away. The locals told him, "You've met a giant spider." ”

This giant spider has a very peculiar "hobby", that is, to fight with the dragon, "spit silk to bind the dragon, the glue is incomprehensible, the fire dragon will burn its silk is already there.". In "Li Cheng", "Qing Barnyard Banknotes" and Liang Shaoren's "Essays on Two Autumn Rains", there are records of "dragon spider fighting".

"Essays on Two Autumn Rains"

Among them, the "Essay on the Two Autumn Rains" remembers simply: "The dragon strikes, the thunderstorm is made, the spider spits out the silk web, the dragon is embarrassed, the fighting is dozens, and the water is near the sea." There was a fire dragon two, burning the web out of the dragon, and the spider did not know where to go. The Lisheng records in detail, and even has the specific time of this great war: May 14 of the eighth year of Daoguang. On that day, the rain was torrential, thunder and lightning, and the wind was so strong that even the trees were uprooted. The inhabitants of the seashore "saw the big spider hanging in the air, surrounded by five dragons", the giant spider shrunk its feet to defend, and when the dragon approached with its teeth and claws, it suddenly kicked its foot out, and the dragon scattered. "The spider shrinks its feet again, the dragon comes again, and it stretches out like a furious front, and the pawn cannot get close to it." When the five dragons were exhausted, the giant spider suddenly spat silk and tied the dragon's claws, and the dragon's claws were glued and could not be opened. Just when the five dragons were at a loss, suddenly foreign aid came, but it was a fire dragon, burning the spider silk, "the claws are not bound." After fighting for half a day, regardless of victory or defeat, the giant spider re-entered the sea, and the dragon also returned with sorrow. The next day, someone picked up the spider silk that had been burned off by the fire dragon, "thicker than the arm, or yingzhang, or yingzhi, and the two athletes held both ends and pulled it, but they could not break it."

The reason for the occurrence of the "dragon spider fight" is not stated in the above notes, after all, the giant spider usually only likes to play in the sea, never harms the people, and occasionally dresses up as a grandfather and a child to sit in a row and sit in the fruit, how to see is not a bad person. The "Essay on the Two Autumn Rains" vaguely mentions that it "can be booed as a black wind, and whenever the residents see the wind rise like black smoke, they are strictly closed, and the wind is over", and there is no great harm. Therefore, it seems that the dragons have nothing to do, and the five water dragons plus one fire dragon have only fought with the giant spiders, and the results are not good, and they are quite disgraced--so it can be seen that the people also have forgiveness and even have a bias towards the monsters that do not harm them.

Third, the detective: three turns around the wire to solve the mystery case

The third face of the spider is the "prison break master". In a past narrative note, the author once quoted the story in the Ming Dynasty notebook "Chung Tung Sketch": Not long after Xi'an Fu Taishou Caikuan took office, a tourist lost gold in the inn, went to the official palace to file a complaint, only to look up and see an eagle flying over the top of the mansion, and saw a spider crawling over the public case, so he said to the traveler: "There must be a person named Zhu Ying (spider eagle) in the hotel where you live, he is a thief!" Then he sent the servants to the inn, and sure enough, they found the Zhu Ying and found the gold ingot.

Autumn Lantern Talk

In several lectures on public case novels, the author has used this note to illustrate the absurdity of the ancient Chinese way of judging cases. Coincidentally, there is a similar story in "Autumn Lantern Series".

In the early years of Qianlong, there was a family in Hanyang who married a daughter-in-law. In the night of the candlelight in the cave, the groom suddenly got upset and ran to the vegetable garden in the backyard to. A thief climbed over the wall, stabbed him to death, and then pulled the corpse to a secluded place, took off his clothes and changed it, sneaked into the room in the dark to do good deeds with the bride, and swept the bride's jewelry and jewelry away in the middle of the night. The bride was stunned and did not know what the "husband" intended. The next morning, the old man found that his son had been killed, and he was in pain, and asked his daughter-in-law what was going on, and where the daughter-in-law could say clearly. The old man suspected that his daughter-in-law was having an affair with someone else and had joined forces to kill his son, so he went to the government office to report to the officials.

Although the county order interrogated her repeatedly, the bride turned over and over only stated the situation of that night and insisted on pleading not guilty. The county commander also felt that something was wrong, so he prayed to the gods to give him some hints. For a moment, "there is a spider that falls on the crown and turns around the silk", the county order caught it and threw it away, who knew that the spider quickly climbed on the crown and still circled as before. If the county commander realized something, he changed into civilian clothes and went to the countryside to make a private visit, asking everywhere if there was a person named "Zhu San". At first, it was not found, until he was resting in a liquor store, and the restaurant listened to his inquiry and said that there was a local rogue rogue named Zhu Hongsi, who was in the family for three, so people also called him "Zhu San". Zhu San was originally lazy and lazy, living in poverty, he didn't know what kind of big luck he had recently bumped into, but suddenly he had money in hand, opened an inn, and made a lot of money. The county order went to the door and saw that Vermilion was sitting in the inn, gathering a crowd to gamble. Gambling back and forth, he lost the red eye and took out a gold noodle and bet it on the table. The county order looked exactly like the jewelry that the bride described her disappearance, and immediately asked his followers to arrest Vermilion and put her to justice.

This kind of story, which is very much in ancient notes, is mostly absurd. Spiders are spiders, how can there be the ability to prompt murderers, if this can be the case, then there is another unsolved case, the criminal police will run to the arthropod exhibition hall in the zoo to consult well, its role is only to deter potential criminals, so that they believe that there is another "parallel court" in the underworld, do not dare to do wrong. There are many such examples of spiders being promoted to great good or reduced to great evil, such as Wang Shichen's writing in the "Chibei Occasional Talk" about the Cihui Temple in Jingxi, and in the Ming Wanli, Huang Pingqian, a young zhan shi, lingered in the temple, "One day when the party recited the Diamond Sutra, one spider on the edge of the case, bowed to the Buddha, and drove it back", Huang Pingqian asked it: "Are you here to listen to me recite the Buddhist scriptures?" Then, in order to recite the final volume, the spider listened, degenerated, and Huang Pingqian erected this tower; the latter, as Zeng Yandong recorded in "The Little Bean Shed", "Asking for spider webs": "There has never been a fierce and greedy person like a spider's web... Carved with phase rope, sparse without leakage, pecking at the remaining blood to eat, exhausted by grease paste. In fact, all eyes were open, and the tricks were scattered; Xian Si had exhausted the net, and there was no room left. For the sake of er cocoon silk, to the innocent and caught; many ways to weave, even if there are wings and difficult to fly. "Reading and reading, the face of the spider has become more and more blurred, and in the final analysis, people are still uncertain and unable to focus."
