Christy Lee Rogers is a visual artist from Kailua, Hawaii. Her obsession with water as a medium that broke with contemporary photographic conventions led to her work being compared to Baroque masters such as Caravaggio. Hilarious in color and complexity, Rogers applies her crafty technique to a string of human bodies submerged in water at night, using the refraction of light to create her effect. Through a fragile experimental process, she constructs delicate scenes that blend color and entangled bodies that elevate the human character into a person full of vitality and warmth, while also capturing the beauty and fragility of the tragic experience of the human condition.
Rogers' work has been exhibited worldwide, from Paris, London, Italy, Mexico City to Shanghai, São Paulo, South Africa, Los Angeles and more, and is in private and public collections around the world. She has featured in international magazines such as Vogue, Harper's Bazaar Art China, Elle Decoration, Global Times, The Independent, Casa Vogue, Photo Technique, Photo Korea, etc. Her work was selected for the 2013-2014 season of the Opéra Angers-Nantes, France. In 2019, she won the Open Photographer of the Year award at the Sony World Photography Awards and in 2020 created a cover image for the 2021 Lavazza calendar "The New Humans".
