01Study hard
In 1924, Huang Xuhua was born in Guangdong. Since he was a child, he has been interested in natural sciences and has always had good academic results. At that time, when he was in middle school, just in time for the outbreak of the Anti-Japanese War, the iron heel of the Japanese army began to move south from the three northeastern provinces, burned and looted all the way, and successively occupied Jiangxi, Fujian and other places. Huang Xuhua, who is in Guangdong, can no longer study peacefully, so he can only flee to Guangxi with his brother to study.
However, not long after that, the war invaded Guidi, and Huang Xuhua had no choice but to pack up his package and go to Chongqing to enter the preparatory class of Guofu University. After completing his preparatory studies, the Department of Aeronautics of Nanjing University threw him an olive branch. After studying at school for a while, Huang Xuhua felt that he had a general interest in aerospace, so he transferred to the navigation department of Shanghai Jiaotong University today. From this moment on, he developed a lifelong relationship with the sea and nautical technology.
02Bury your head and work hard
In the year of the founding of New China, Huang Xuhua completed his studies and applied to join the Communist Party, and entered the party school for further study in the same year. In 1958, Huang Xuhua entered the naval force, and as a professional who understands science and technology, the organization certainly attaches great importance to it. With him as the center, the higher-level department formed a scientific research team to be responsible for scientific research projects on nuclear submarine technology under the sea. You must know that in the world at that time, the only two great powers that had the ability, understood technology, and could make nuclear submarines without bad money were the United States and the Soviet Union.
Of these two countries, one has just finished fighting with us on the Korean battlefield, and the other has a cold war momentum with the mainland because of the issue of socialist lines. Under such a predicament, Huang Xuhua's team had no foreign assistance and could only gnaw this hard bone by themselves.
03 Go all out
Huang Xuhua and his scientific research team rose to the challenge and started from the most basic steps. The appearance, internal and external structure, and selection of materials need to be overcome one by one, and the most critical thing is to solve the problem of nuclear reactors. At that time, no one on the mainland had ever seen what a nuclear submarine looked like, foreign countries blocked our technology, and the mainland had not yet successfully developed an atomic bomb, and nuclear technology was in the stage of continuous exploration. Therefore, Huang Xuhua's team can only insist on research while waiting for peers to achieve technological breakthroughs, and then transplant to their own nuclear submarine project.
In the process, when two mainland diplomats transferred to Hong Kong for official business, they were given two models of nuclear submarines. Huang Xuhua's team relied on these two well-structured models to verify their early scientific research results. In 1974, the first nuclear submarine independently designed by the mainland was announced to have been successfully developed, and once it was announced, it shocked the world. Especially the USSR, who immediately strengthened the defense of the Pacific Fleet. The mainland deployed nuclear submarines at the North Sea Fleet and showed off the muscles of our army to the Soviet revisionists.
The United States and the mainland are in the honeymoon period before the establishment of diplomatic relations, and although they are shocked, they do not express anything drastic.
For Huang Xuhua, who has been immersed in hard work for 30 years, the successful development of nuclear submarines is the best harvest of his hard work. Due to the special nature of his work and busy work, it is difficult for Huang Xuhua to go home, and for so many years, his parents have not known what their son is doing. It wasn't until the 80s that Huang Xuhua's mother saw a report and learned about her son's glorious deeds.
In 1988, Huang Xuhua gradually retired to the background and retired home. But even if they stay at home, the elderly still care about the development of the country and are keen on philanthropy. He has donated his savings many times to reward talents in the field of scientific research. It can be said that Huang Xuhua is completely the backbone of New China. In the 50s and 60s of the last century, the mainland broke off diplomatic relations with the Soviet Union and was isolated in the international community. At this time, the successful development of atomic bombs and nuclear submarines greatly boosted the morale of the people and demonstrated the Chinese government's ability to defend this land and people. And Huang Xuhua devoted his life to scientific research, in the office with simple conditions, constantly calculating, revising, natural disasters, and even unable to eat, he worked hard for decades, obscurity, and finally forged the country's heavy weapon.
