1. Mkaya Hunting Reserve One of the best protected areas. Eswatini stunning Mkhaya Game Reserve was established in 1979 to protect purebred Nguni cattle from extinction. But what really makes it famous is Mkaja's protection of black and white rhinos. The staff in the reserve, all from nearby communities, organized a very efficient anti-hunting squad. In addition to rhinos, there are chamo, sable, wildebeest and elephants roaming the reserve. At the birding spot, you'll have the chance to get up close and personal with rare species, and the sanctuary takes its name from the ubiquitous acacia tree (mkhaya) found here. Access to or overnight stays in the reserve must be reserved in advance. While day trips can be arranged at the Mkaya Hunting Reserve, the ideal itinerary is to stay at least one night.

2. Usutu River Rafting One of the highlights of the Eswatini is whitewater rafting, rapids, or down a stunning canyon on the Great Usutu River. Some sections of the lazy river encounter class IV rapids, which are not suitable for the faint of heart. But elsewhere, adventurous novices can easily cope with it. Rafting trips depart from the Ezulwini Valley.

3. Malolotja Nature Reserve The beautiful Malolotja Nature Reserve is a true wilderness, a rugged area that is mostly unspoiled. The terrain varies from mountains and high-altitude meadows to forests and low bushes, with streams dotted with three rivers, including the Komati River. It's an exciting hiking area, with over 280 species of birds in the reserve making it a haven for ornithologists. Wildflowers and rare plants complete the spot, many of which are unique to the area. Hiking trails are marked in basic travel brochures provided free of charge at the hotel and restaurant reception. Recently, many people have made a special trip to the park for the Malolotja Canopy Tour, where you will "slide" through the magnificent, lush canopy of Malolotia on a heart-pounding zipline.

4. Mrilwane Wildlife Sanctuary Cycle or stroll around Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary, then pick an affordable lodge to rest. This beautiful and tranquil animal sanctuary was established by conservation expert Ted Reilly in the 50s of the 20th century and was the first protected area in Eswatini. Mrilwein means "spark" and the name comes from the many wildfires caused by lightning in the reserve. While it's not as spectacular and not as big as some of South Africa's parks, the Mrilwein Wildlife Sanctuary is well worth a visit. Most of the reserve is occupied by the steep Nyonyane Peak. The area is ideal for hiking. The animals that inhabit the area include zebras, giraffes, warthogs, antelopes, crocodiles, hippos and a variety of birds, including black eagles.

5. Brambu The historic Bulembu was established in 1936 as a Havelock asbestos mine. With the closure of the mine, 10,000 workers left the area, and by 2003 Bramb had become a ghost town. A few years ago, the town was reborn with a community tourism project launched by a new investor – thousands of abandoned corrugated iron houses and many Art Deco buildings were renovated. Hiking attractions here include Eswatini highest mountain, Emleme (1,863 m).
