Eddie Redmayne has always been fashionable. While the actor clearly knows his approach to awards ceremonial tuxedos or lavish double-breasted linen suits, since supporting his latest work, the Netflix crime drama Good Nurse, co-starring Jessica Chastain, Redmayne has been subtly adding some new twists to his fashion repertoire. At 40, it's understandable if Redmayne wants to offset his still-boyish handsomeness with something more serious or dull, but instead, he seems to find his style more interesting than ever.
With the help of Harry Lambert, the stylist is known for his work with Harry Styles, but his eclectic, eclectic taste has also seen him bring red carpet moments to the likes of Emma Corrin and Josh O'Connor, and Redmayne recently took it up another notch.
When Redmayne attended the New York premiere of Good Nurse in a Maison Margiela Couture deconstructed suit, we first discovered that Redmayne was exploring new territory, with his suit featuring original hems, exposed stitching, and detached panels, just as the Savile Row classic was flipped out. As far as men's attire on the red carpet is concerned, especially for stars like Redmayne, whose previous appearances at the biggest awards ceremonies have often opted for the more traditional black tie route, it's a fashion-forward statement and it's also fun.
Redmayne didn't stop there. The week before, he appeared at the Mill Valley Film Festival in California, dressed in a sharp Dries van Noten suit, nail-head checker, exaggerated lapels and a huge velvet Gucci bow tie, ending the '70s-style glamour. At last weekend's Savannah Film Festival, he wore a tan Marni suit paired with a hot crimson Séfr shirt featuring a slightly larger collar. Also last weekend, at the Montclair Film Festival in New Jersey, he opted for a more minimalist collarless blazer and understated pinstriped tailored trousers from Celine, with a black mock collar sweater underneath.
Redmayne's current style isn't limited to tailoring, either. Last week, he attended a Q&A event and wore the coveted furry Loewe knitwear made from faux wool with dazzling colorful stripes, while another highlight was on Monday, when he wore a glamorous S.S. Daley cardigan attends a screening of the SAG-AFTRA Foundation in New York with a pair of blue ducks on it, what else? In Good Nurse, Redmayne may have to play one of his most serious roles, but if his style is anything, he has a lot of fun in publicity.
