This is the first time I read the author's book, and I got to know that he is a famous modern Japanese novelist, critic, and a "master of dark aesthetics", and Yukio Mishima, Shuji Terayama and others are deeply influenced by him. He is committed to introducing the cultural and intellectual undercurrents of Western society to Japanese academics. He also went deep into the fields of religion, folklore, literature, and art, and created with his own unique artistic style, writing a large number of fantasy literature works full of dark colors, becoming an outstanding pioneer of fantasy literature in Japan.
I really want to see his dark works, but in this "Flower Escape", he tears off the dark label and takes a beautiful and elegant route, writing this book is the last year of his life, describing the various flowers in the field yard, in fact, he is also sharing the joy of flowers with readers.
This book is basically a compilation of Shibusawa Ryuhiko's column essays in the 80s of the 20th century, and the author laughs that he just counts the flowers and plants grown at home, so he is called "Hana Xiaoyao". Shibusawa believes that he is a conceptual person, more realistic than the flowers that are within reach in reality, the flowers encountered in books and floating in memory.
The legend about Narcissus in ancient Greek mythology was the beautiful boy Narcissus who threw himself into the water because of narcissism, and the author rationally analyzed that the name Narcissus came from the word "paralysis", in fact, the bulbs of Narcissus were also rich in alkaloids with hypnotic effects. The author's home in Kita-Kamakura blooms in clusters of daffodils every year, and it also blooms from the garden to the back mountain, which is also very beautiful.
Narcissus does not need to be taken care of, the flowers will wither in the spring, do not take them off after wilting, once they are picked, they will not bloom for a long time, I seem to have found the problem of buying daffodils old and not flowering.
