The black-throated snowfowl (scientific name: Pyrgilauda davidiana) is a black-throated snowfowl with similar plumage. The base of the mouth, forehead, eye, underside, and anterior cheek are black and blend in with the blacks of the chin and throat. The skin on the back of the cheeks is yellowish white, the ear cover feathers, the back of the head and neck are also yellowish white, and the top of the head, pillow, back neck, back of the neck, back, back, shoulders, and waist are sandy brown or tan, with inconspicuous black-brown feathers. The upper tail coverts are tan or sand brown, the central pair of black browns have a broad tan or sandpi yellow feather margin, the rest of the tail feathers are black brown with broad white sub-terminal spots, the feather margin is light tan, the small coverts above the wings are sand brown or tan, the middle and large coverts are black, the margin sandpi is yellow or tan, the primary coverts are black brown, the margins are white or pale, and the winglets are white. The feathers are black brown, the margins are pale, the first primary feathers are tan, the outer feathers are white, the inner middle feathers are white, the rest of the primary flight feathers are black brown, the feather margins are light brown, the middle feathers of the inner feathers are white and expanded into white spots, the secondary flight feathers are black brown or dark brown, the middle of the inner feathers also have white spots, some of the inner feathers are almost all white, and the outer only hind and terminal spots are dark brown. The chin, throat, and upper thorax are black, the rest of the lower body is white, and the side of the neck, thorax, flanks, and subtail coverts are stained brown.
China is found in the Qilian Mountains, Gansu, Ningxia (Helan Mountains) in eastern Qinghai, and the Hulun Lake region in northeastern Inner Mongolia.
Resident birds. During breeding, they often move in pairs, and during the non-breeding period, they are often in small groups and are also mixed with sparrows. Good at running on the ground, agile in action, good at flying, but flying not high, flying close to the ground, bold and quiet. Foraging near houses, the food is mainly insects. Sexually active, not afraid of people, when people are very close, that is, fly away, but fly to 5-10 meters and then land on the ground to feed, male and female to maintain a distance, and do not stop together. The black-throated snowfish inhabits rocky slopes, plains, grasslands, terraces, valleys, streams and deserts and semi-deserts with sparse plants, mostly at altitudes of 3000-3500 m, and is also found near river valleys, farmland and settlements. It usually inhabits places near water. Associated with pika populations. In large groups in winter, they enter farms and villages without fear.
The breeding season is from May to July. Nests are usually nested in pairs and scattered, and the nests are mostly built in abandoned holes of various rodents, most of which are 50-70 cm underground, in a horizontal direction. The nest is placed in a spherical nest chamber at the end of the cave, usually 20-75 cm from the mouth of the cave, and also in a rocky cave on the hillside. The nest is cup-shaped, with an outer layer of mainly dry grass and an inner layer of wool, other animal hairs and feathers. The size of the nest is 15 cm× 15 cm, and the height does not exceed 10 cm. Each clutch lays 5-6 eggs white.
