Lǐ, also known as northern snakehead, blackfish, raw fish, and mullet, is a common freshwater fish in China. The type locality of this species is in the Zhoushan Islands.

Some large snakeheads are more than 80 cm long. The largest snakehead found so far is nearly 1.5 meters long and weighs about 7 kilograms, and was found in Russia.
Snakeheads will have variations in color.
Snakeheads are carnivores and eat very large amounts of food with a fierce temperament.
It inhabits lakes , rivers and ditches , and is often latent in lush aquatic vegetation.
It prefers to live in lakes, rivers, ponds, reservoirs and canals with mud at the bottom, aquatic plants and slow and calm water flows.
