Since Lang Ping took charge of the national team in 2013, the Chinese women's volleyball team has won the 2015 World Cup, the 2016 Rio Olympics and the 2019 World Cup. In these three championships, the women's volleyball team has produced a total of 8 World Cup and Olympic "triple crowns". They are Zhu Ting, Wei Qiuyue, Zhang Changning, Ding Xia, Yuan Xinyue, Liu Xiaotong, Yan Ni and Lin Li. With the announcement of her retirement by free agent Lin Li, only four of the eight "Triple Crowns" have not left the arena.
The Chinese women's volleyball team won the championship in Rio
On the evening of October 24, Lin Li, the former main libero of the Chinese women's volleyball team, announced her retirement on her personal social media. At this point, the best free man of the Rio Olympics officially ended his career. After retiring from the army, Lin Li has joined Fujian Institute of Technology, challenging new fields and starting a new life.
Lin Li retired
Before Lin Li faded out of the game, three of the eight "triple crown champions" of the women's volleyball team had announced their retirement. The earliest was the beauty second setter Wei Qiuyue, who announced the end of her career after the 2017 Tianjin National Games. Since then, Wei Qiuyue has married Yuan Lingxi, an assistant coach of the national team, and the two currently have a son.
Following Wei Qiuyue, deputy attack Yan Ni and main attack Liu Xiaotong also faded out of the national team successively. After leaving the court, Liu Xiaotong served as the leader of the BAIC women's volleyball team and still did not leave volleyball. No news of Yan Ni's new job has yet appeared in the media.
Zhu Yuanzhang is still in the arena
After the above four retire, the "triple crown" of the women's volleyball team is currently only Zhu Ting, Zhang Changning, Yuan Xinyue and Ding Xia. After recovering from wrist surgery, Zhu Ting has joined Italian club Scandicci and is currently playing in Serie A. Although Zhang Changning has not participated in official competitions for more than a year, he has not retired. Yuan Xinyue and Ding Xia are active national players who have just represented the national team in the Women's Volleyball World Championship. Here, let us wish the four champions who left the arena a successful career, and the four who stayed in the arena achieve even greater achievements!
