The jury in Anthony Rapp Star Trek: Discovery v. Kevin Spacey (House of Cards) sexual assault ruled that the lawsuit was not established and Spacey was not liable for any damages.
The case was heard in federal court in Manhattan for three weeks, and the jury deliberated today about two hours before reaching a verdict. When the verdict was announced, Spacey, wearing a mask, lowered his head and seemed to wipe his tears, then hugged the lawyer to celebrate.
Rapp issued a statement thanking him for the opportunity to tell his story, adding that the lawsuit had been filed as part of a larger campaign against all forms of sexual violence to light the way forward.
In 1986, when Anthony Rapp was 14 years old and 26-year-old Kevin Spacey collaborated on the Broadway play "Precious Sons", Spacey put him to bed and rode on him after a party, which made Anthony Rapp feel violated and haunted him ever since.
At the end of October 2017, Rapp publicly accused Kevin Spacey of sexually harassing himself as a minor, and jointly filed a lawsuit with a man under the pseudonym C.D., demanding $40 million in damages.
Although the case is over, public opinion is far from over, some people think that Kevin Spacey is wronged, but others think that this is another victory for the rich man.
And there was no compensation in the case, but in August this year Kevin Spacey was ordered to pay MRC Entertainment $31 million in damages.
The reason is Kevin Spacey's sexual assault lawsuit for breach of contractual obligations and the company's consistent anti-sexual harassment policy. As a result, MRC suffered losses, including suspending the filming of the show's sixth season, rewriting the script, and reducing the number of episodes of one season in order to meet the schedule, and seeking compensation for it.
Also in May, the British Crown Prosecution Service filed criminal charges against him, alleging that he committed four counts of sexual assault against three men in London and Gloucester between 2005 and 2008.
The case is also being handled, the outcome of which is unknown.
